Story Behind The Song
The song tells the whole story.
Song Description
Although Grandma has passed away, years ago, Grandpa still maintains the Holiday traditions of spending Christmas Eve alone with the love of his life. Having a glass of wine and dinner with his wife. Remembering the years through the decorations on the tree, old Christmas cards and pictures, and spending an evening together before the kids and grand kids show up for Christmas dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's farm.

Lyrics
Pretty paper, tied up with ribbons, and a candlelight dinner for two.
Christmas stockings, are hung by the fire,
the same way that Grandma would do.
Near the corner, with lights glowing softly, stands a beautiful new Christmas tree.
Decorations from years spent together, paint a portrait only Grandpa can see.
And he says,"Christmas again without you; it seems each year it gets harder to do. God knows someday, we'll be together, but I miss Christmas with you."
As the snowflakes dance by the window,
the tiny angel looks down from the tree at an old man, just waiting for Christmas, all alone with his memories.
In the hallway he straightens her picture; dries a tear on the edge of his sleeve.
in the morning, the family will gather,
but tonight is (spoken) Grandpa's Christmas Eve.
At the table he fills up two glasses;
makes a toast to a love rare and true.
"Merry Christmas, my darling, God only
knows, how I miss Christmas with you."
"Merry Christmas, my darling, God only knows, how I miss Christmas with you."
