Story Behind The Song
My Father was 62 years old when he passed away suddenly last year from a rare form of cancer. He worked hard his entire life to build a safe space for his family and was always there to help anytime one of us needed it. He was 3 years away from retirement and being able to relax and enjoy what he had worked for. This song is the first of many tributes I plan on releasing in his honor which will culminate in a full album.
Song Description
The song is a tribute to my late father and features acoustic guitar, with elements of upright base and light drumming to support the acoustic rhythms. It also features Piano and Violin as lead instruments to help increase the emotional impact of the song. The vocals are somber and delicate, really making the heartbreaking subject matter the focus of the song.

Lyrics
You were always there,
any time I needed you,
at the drop of hat, at moments notice,
you'd be there before I knew,
Nothing could compare,
to the way you'd conquer any hill,
No problem too big, no task too small,
It was all a part of the thrill,
But lately,
I think about the way you could,
drop a joke out of left field,
knock us all dead,
and lately,
I think about the way you would,
Work until your hands were bruised,
and do it again the next day,
How could I let you go?,
How could I let you go?
You were always there,
Like a movie scene,
Nothing would stop you from being the one,
that we all need,
Now I'm scared,
I don't know what to do,
Everything that's great about me,
I learned from you,
But lately,
I wonder what you were thinking,
knowing things we're winding down,
coming to an end,
And lately,
I wonder what you were thinking,
knowing everytime you saw me,
could be the last time,
How could I let you go?
How could I let you go?
I'll never understand,
No one could ever know,
You deserved so much more time,
To enjoy the world you build,
I'll never understand,
I don't know how to go on,
But to live my life they you would have wanted,
How could I let you go?
How could I let you go?
How could I let you go?
How could I let you go?
You we're always there,
But now you're not,
The world will never be the same,
didn't matter how hard you fought,
The only way that I can ever make the world see,
Is to be the kind of person you wanted me to be,
