Will You Remember?

Story Behind The Song

I wrote it when someone was exiting my life (I knew for good) and it felt almost like I had wasted my time with this person, but then I realized that I had grown so much being with that person that it wasn't a waste of time. This led to a better appreciation of that person and the memories we shared.

Song Description

This song is about wondering if the memories you made with someone will mean anything once they're gone. There's a bit of sadness that the person has left but this version of the song has a bit more of a hopeful vibe to it. A lot of forward motion, rising to the occasion, uplifting, lots of momentum. Lyrics are dismissive. A Rush of dismissal.

Lyrics

Will You Remember? - by Nick Simmons

V1
My Soul is aching, My Spirits breaking,
My Head is thinking, My heart is beating,
My Soul is aching, My Spirits breaking,
My Head is thinking, My heart is beating,

Chorus:
Will You Remember, The Things that I said to you,
Will You Remember, What I was willing to give up for you,
Will You Remember, What I've said to you,
Will You Remember, That I love you,

And I want to know,
If You'll ever Love me Too,

V2
Your Eyes are shining, Your Soul is showing,
You Lips are moving, but I'm not Listening,
Your Eyes are shining, Your Soul is showing,
You Lips are moving, but I'm not Listening,

Chorus:
Will You Remember, The Times I was there for you,
Will You Remember, The look you gave me Too,
Will You Remember, What it's like to be wanted,
Will You Remember, That you're all I've ever wanted,

and I want to know,
If you ever wanted me too.

Can't go wrong with this one.Seems like it is ready for just about any movie, I see it in a scene in the mighty ducks or Bad news bears!

Here is a different kind of break up song. Great intro with innovative piano licks, drums kicking in provides an anticipatory vibe that introduces the song well. The repetitive questions (Do you remember) are very effective. The emotion and angst really come through the vocals. The rhymes/lyrics are very carefully written and emotionally delivered by the singer. I like the way he used the "ing" words, very effective. Also loved the piano arpeggios! The "I want to" section at the end is a great confession and conclusion to the song. Forgive and forget...but will he be able to?
