Story Behind The Song

I was in a relationship that I felt was wrong, and I didn't exactly know how to get out of it. On one hand, all my friends were telling me that I should date this guy, and yet in my conscience, I knew I shouldn't. Struggling to come up with a resolution, I read I Samuel 15:22, and found exactly what I needed to hear. God says, "to obey is better than sacrifice." I knew He was prompting me to break up with the guy. I wanted to obey that, but I was scared. For a while, I tried to ignore God's will, and just offer my relationship to Him as a "living sacrifice," hoping that He would use it for His glory if He'd just allow me to keep it. I'm sure things might have worked out okay if I had continued down that path, but they wouldn't be perfect. They wouldn't be what God wanted. So, after much debate in my own heart, I broke up with the guy, outwardly showing that I didn't care whatever my friends wanted, or what I wanted. I was going to obey God. That was better than sacrifice.

Song Description

Obedience to God's will for our lives is what we can offer Him, and also what He greatly desires. This song depicts that message, and tells how much greater it is to obey God than it is to make up our own plans and hope He's happy with it.
