Story Behind The Song
In our sufferings, we must know that Jesus feels what we feel. He does condemn; he does not judge. He feels our sorrow, takes our burdens upon His shoulders, and Jesus cries for us.
Song Description
The story is told that one of Jesus' close friends, Lazarus, had died. Everyone was angry at Jesus for allowing such a thing to happen. They mocked Him, accused Him, and made known all of their "if only's." Jesus Himself asked some "if only's" on the night before He was to die. In each case, Jesus wept.

Lyrics
Vs 1: If only you'd been there, maybe this wouldn't have happenned
If only I'd called on you, this trial would never be
If only the hands of time would stop their cruel spinning
If only, if only
Ch: And Jesus wept. Jesus wept. And Jesus wept. Jesus wept.
Vs 2: Oh, see how He loved him! They said as Jesus cried
He was a truest companion of the one who tragically died
Oh, how could this happen? Is God not on our side?
If only, if only
(chorus)
Vs 3: Gethsemane garden, the night He was betrayed
Jesus' disciples slumbered while He prayed
Father, if there is another way, let this cup pass from me
If only, if only
(chorus)
Br: He feels our sorrow, He knows our pain
He mourns in our sadness, rejoices in our gain
The savior of the world was slain
And yet He knows my feelings, He shares my feelings
He shares my feelings
(chorus)
