Story Behind The Song
I was leaving home for college. I wanted to do something special for my parents before I left, so I wrote this song for them. It expresses my gratitude for a childhood filled with nothing but the fondest memories.
Song Description
Fond memories of the little things I experienced as a child that seem fantastical in reminiscence: walking bare foot everywhere in the summertime, cozy blankets next to a warm, crackling fireplace during the wintertime, getting piggy back rides from my daddy, and from time to time, laughing so much that I cried.

Lyrics
Vs 1: Life is a treasure. I knew that the day I was born
Being held in a tender embrace, being loved as never before
The years since then have flown by. The love has never changed
The precious times together, in my heart, still remain
Ch: Barefeet in the summertime, blankets by the fireside
Piggybacks and laughing till we cried
Vs 2: Away in my own little world, singing without a care
Snatchin' some people or brushing my doll's hair
(chorus)
Br: Children are a blessing on loan here from above
Given to their parents from God for care and love
Childhood is fleeting; it's here then blows away
The wonder fades like flowers, so cherish every day
Cherish every day
(chorus)
