Story Behind The Song

The dilemma of owning a beloved cat that is a good hunter.

Just before sunup, while we were still sleeping,
guess who was silently, stealthily creeping
outside in the garden, from under a bush -
It was Kitty - he's caught another thrush.

Bad cat, we must get him a bell to wear
so the birds can hear him when he comes near.
He must never hunt little songbirds again,
not robin not sparrow not starling not wren

Little songbirds should not be game
for cats or for us, it amounts to the same.
Kitty has plenty to eat in the house,
and we never mind if he catches a mouse.

Vermin like mice are always fair game,
though mice are so sweet, it is really a shame
to regard them as pests, but that's what they are
when their droppings turn up in the cookie jar.

Very Cool. That was my first time reviewing a song like this one. There is much that could say about how spot on that song/performance was,. That's obvious! But what isn't as obvious right away is the song structure of these types of songs and how complex they. It may be kid music but it is far from being childish. Keep it up and can't wait to hear more

The concept was good; nice idea. Also, having two different voices and then a choir was a cool choice.

I adore the singer's voice, perfect lyrics, interesting arrangement, and clear recording.
My favorite spot is at 01:15/24

Your song put a smile on my face. Finally a song for those nasty feral cats that sneak into our yard hiding under the bush near our bird feeder looking for their next meal. Touche and bravo. I loved your song. The interplay between the male and female voices was FUN and effective. (even funny, feeling sorry for the mouse? Droppings in the cookie jar) Loved it! The rhymes were fun and the female voice, especially has what I would call "a good voice for a children's entertainer"...EEK! Loved it. Next song: How to get RID OF the cats...! Hand drumming and guitar work great! I really want to hear more of your work!
