Lyrics
BAD CAT
Just before sunup, while we were still sleeping,
guess who was silently, stealthily creeping
outside in the garden, from under a bush -
It was Kitty - he's caught another thrush.
Bad cat, we must get him a bell to wear
so the birds can hear him when he comes near.
He must never hunt little songbirds again,
not robin not sparrow not starling not wren
Little songbirds should not be game
for cats or for us, it amounts to the same.
Kitty has plenty to eat in the house,
and we never mind if he catches a mouse.
Vermin like mice are always fair game,
though mice are so sweet, it is really a shame
to regard them as pests, but that's what they are
when their droppings turn up in the cookie jar.
