The Gospel According to Emotional Dichotomy

Story Behind The Song

This piece always feels too hard to even talk about. It was definitely the most difficult to record. This is an internal conversation I had while trying to decide whether or not to break up with very newly pregnant, knowing that I had every intention of keeping the baby regardless of the outcome of the relationship.

Song Description

This work is raw and visceral and one of the most vulnerable pieces that I share. Honestly, it was difficult to record and put out there, but it was necessary. This piece discusses a break up from a psychologically abusive relationship. ?The language is old and the track has this old timey feel to it with harp strings and a gentle beat. Makes me think of minstrels playing before the court.

Lyrics

A singular young woman with multiple talents,
She thinks fondly of her past successes and adventures,
But fearful of former decisions yielding current torments
Which grip her stomach with constantly re-lived explosive ruptures.
And he wants her true beauty ethereal
Remembering her sexy form and eyes casting at a glance.
Unable to shed the haunting memories of betrayal
In limbo they dance back and forth, neither taking a stance
Yet with rigid spine and posture sure
She's determined the whispers of the Fates
Deciding Life be given to one unknown and unborn
Hindered by fear's myopia which shadows Father's various states
Rejecting her and her Notion within, he quietly folds away,
Expecting moments and hopes they had created, to blossom soon
in time.
Herself confused, she wants him to go she wants him to stay,
Separately they write on one page hoping to find a rhyme.
Hope for the future with family intact she touts.
Glooming fear of financial failure, fatherly expectations that be,
Attached to his feelings for her remain the ever lurking and growing
doubts.
Her heart is set on Life together, two if not possibly three

Two excludes him, in Three he's the king
And his dominion over heart he'd forever reign
With promises of rainbows, laughter and love's eternal ring
Only time will allow her, his trust once again to regain
For tales are woven of giants and gnomes
Fables and Bible stories teach in God and in others to trust
A Mom and Dad together create strong, nurturing homes
Good perspective for young minds is a must.
But in a home where trust and hope between them is faint
And bewitching spells of love were quickly lifted
What beautiful picture for the New One could they paint?
Whilst on the journey, their Northern star has shifted?
Ponder they both in quiet retreat
Sanity banishes them to ends of their small birth isle
The imperfect girl, her armoured knight contemplates defeat
Fair maiden's hope invites the wounded animal to rest a while.
Dreams live on and possibilities abound
Only the choice of two wavering hearts can know and share
That in the depth of Earth, precious metals and stones may be
found
The prize reserved for those who choose love's path to tread if they
dare.
