Oui, Cheri! It was Spanish, which is the language of the American southeast (especially Miami). But is was supposed to be French. I get them mixed up sometimes as they are both similar Romance Languages. I am planning on releasing a couple of French tunes in 2015 to honor my American Indian ancestors who we pushed into Canada and sided with the French during the French Indian wars in a failed attempt to reclaim their native land. I think that must be either because BJ changes the criteria, or tabulates the numbers all at one time, at various points in time. I notice that a lot of my songs jump into the Top Tens at the same time there's a lot of activity with other artists making the lists, and also falling out at those times. Last week I had two songs at #2 (Hard Rock and Heavy Metal categories) and both disappeared entirely from the charts on the same day, while another one of my old songs hit the Industrial chart on that same day.
Hey Robert, Great work on "Incarnate", love the changing beat and the layers of sound, could get lost listening to this. Excellent guitar work as usual and the talk box really lifts the track. What did you use for the talk box? Tommy
Thanks, Tommy. I have a lot of fun with that effect. Wish I could get away with using it more often. It's not a talk box though, it's a formant filter on my Fractal Axe-Fx, which was running through a Fractal Audio Systems amp sim that's based on the Mesa sound. Here's the cut and paste on the formant filter from the Fractal Wiki: "The wah was originally intended to mimic the sound of the human voice but obviously falls a little short. A formant filter is an extension of the wah principle but operates on the concept of formants. Formants are resonances in instruments, cabinets, and, in this case, the human vocal tract that give sounds their character. The human vocal tract generates a handful of formants that produce the vowel sounds we recognize. For example the vowel sound "eee" can be reproduced with a bank of narrow bandpass filters with various frequencies and amplitudes. The Axe-Fx Formant Filter allows "talk-box" effects without the fuss and muss of the real thing."
I thought it was a talk box too... that's such a cool effect, works well with the electronic groove! You keep surprising me, Robert! :)

Amazing job on "Feels Alright", I especially love the vocal line and the overall feeling of the song. Thumbs up for the vocal performance as well, so warm and sweet on the verse and much more powerful on the chorus... you've got a great vocal range! And knowing this whole song was done in 1-2 days makes me appreciate it even more!

Check out a new tune - Take A Little Time! I'm really happy with this song. Dropped right out of the blue, and took 2 days to write and record. It's not polished but I kinda liked the relaxed simple singer/songwriter sound!

Haha, Thanks everyone! Uncle S - I am a huge Kenny Loggins fan, and there is no doubt that he has impacted my style and production choices at times. You know what ladies, I don't really know either haha! That song came to me while I was shoveling our van out of a huge drift that blew in after a blizzard here. I often feel like I'm just the lucky guy that the song fairy decided to drop these songs on! A tiny bit of it is that I couldn't really put in words how much I love music. That and being somewhat of a Walter Mitty daydreamer whose thoughts never stops wandering down rabbit trails in the abstract of my mind. What ever it is it often feels like something completely outside of myself and I'm just very humbled and grateful that it does happen. You are all so awesome and encouraging. Hi Simona. "Butterfly" = Excellent tune. This kind of positive, uplifting song about the REAL game of life isn't so easy to pull off, but you and Manu did a great job making that happen! Loved the lyric and thought the arrangement and performance supported it so well; to bring that big theme to life.

Thanks, Simona. I think the first development, as it was being constructed was something like: Space aliens land their UFO at a supermarket and purchase a synthetic fireplace log (serious). After that it transitioned to Orca (Peter named it) as it was in the first stages of development, and we continued to expand and build the sounds around that theme.
Very interesting workflow... actually, orca whales are considered superior beings, of the highest vibration. So the theme transition makes sense somehow. :)
Great collaboration on "Orca", Robert & Peter; nice eclectic audio mix of the magical communication skills of these special creatures, whether they be Aliens or whales. Great piece!
