Ionut - Thanks so much for listening and for adding several of my songs to your playlists recently, including "Those Feelings" in the R & B songs list. It's a blessing to receive such favorable feedback. I truly appreciate it!
You're very welcome Shawn! All the best!
K - Love your tracks! Such great drive and instrumentation in them. Can't wait to hear more.
Thanks Shawn! That means a lot :) Just been listening to some of your work and I really like your song "Those Feelings" - a very smooth tune. Best wishes Katy
New song. Check it out when you have some time! http://www.broadjam.com/artists/songs.php?artistID=95954&mediaID=631782&play=true 1
Just checked it out!! Great pop- easy listening song:)!! Like the lyrics also, and the sax in the break:)!... Love the chorus was waiting to hear it again:)!
The chorus is really great, possibly think about repeating the chorus at some point, only if you want:) really great song, Peter!!!!!
Thanks for the tip. I will look at adding the chorus a second time. I was trying to keep the song compact but your feedback has a lot of merit! Thank you for checking it out!
You have a very nice song there, Peter. I just listened and I enjoyed it as well. Good job.
I didnt hear any vocals , I saw the lyrics, didnt hear any sax either. Was I listening to the wrong version?
Donovan...The sax comes during the bridge late in the song and the song is an instrumental until I find the right singer
You are welcome Peter:).. If you plan to keep it more compact then maybe add the extra chorus and possibly one of the refrains use as part of a bridge etc.. Again just helpful thoughts is all:)) thanks for sharing it!!
Thanks again....looking at adding a second part to the chorus and keeping everything else in place!
Awesome!!!!!!
Peter, "Hideaway" is a very beautiful song, and the lyrics really fine. Like Julia, I was waiting to hear the sax again, perhaps in the outro, but that would be the only critique. Also, listened to "The Traveler", and I must say, this is an important message, and has the ability to touch many hearts, especially with those lyrics; thoughts/questions we've all entertained regarding loosing a loved one; hope you find a vocalist that will do this one, as it was meant. Best to you on all of your music!
Thank you, Julia and Cyndi for your valuable input. I have taken care of both of your concerns, but not ready to put it up yet. If you want to hear it, I will send it to your email. Mine is pschwepker@gmail.com
Surely and you are very welcome!!:) thanks for sharing this:)) juliasingersongwriter@yahoo.com
Updated version is on BJ now...just one chorus but more sax. I will send the two-chrous version to you! See what you think in comparing the two.
Ok cool! Thanks , Peter!!:)
Hey Joe - Thanks for the kind review of my song Movin to Boston. I appreciate all the feedback!
Nina, I think "From the Rain" has the potential to do very well. Be sure to put it on your "best" list, if you haven't already. And congrats on the top 10.
Thanks!
Hello, and thank you very much for your review of Opus 405. Your comments were very helpful and informative, as was your title suggestion of "At the ballet", which gives me a recommendation of where this piece might be used. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed this piece - it inspires me to continue to write and share. Thanks for listening! -Shawn
Keep writing! It was our pleasure!
Hey guys - I really dig Runaway Love! And love that solo and the break at 2:20. Nice touch. I bet you guys do an awesome live show. Music sounds great, keep it up!
Hey Shawn- Thanks a lot, man! We appreciate the feedback! Feel free to check us out at facebook.com/livewiremadison And throw a 'like' our way if you are so-inclined. We will return the favor! Best of luck\../,
Noel, great groove on "100%"! Caught me from the very first note and I was bobbing my head for the entire song. Great lyrics with a strong hook, and the arrangement is top notch. Wonderful pop tune. Loved it!
Shawn thank you for that positive feedback, as a fellow musician and artist, I'm sure you've experienced how hard a life in the arts can be, your words are like oxygen! Have an awesome holiday, Noel
Hello and thank you very much for your review of Opus 405. I am glad you enjoyed the arrangement, and I appreciate your constructive comments. I will try to improve those sounds. Thanks again. Shawn
Hi! Thanks soo much for your kind and thorough review of "Stranger"... The length of comments in the positive section were truly appreciated!!!!! Ready to check out your music!..... Many Blessings.. Julia:)
You're very welcome, Julia. It was a pleasure to listen to!
Hi Simona, I found "Not Like A Bee" on a friend's playlist today and ended up listening to every one of your songs. I like them all. You have a wonderful voice. It's so engaging, ethereal... I think could listen to you sing anything. Production on your songs is great, too. I can't say enough. Great job.
Thank you, Shawn, much appreciated!
Can you guys check out this song? I'd like opinions http://youtu.be/M1F9FVkiGY8 1
"you had me at hello" sorry, couldn't resist copping that movie line. wonderful concept and resultant song. saw the comment about the bridge. angels is a great idea - just smooth it out for the vocal or maybe talk it more to give it the emphasis your are seeking. and, that's my 2¢ worth.
Hey there Nina, cool sounds! I use Cubase 5 (mac) right now but am just about to go 64 bit and upgrade to Cubase 7. I have Kontakt 5 running with several sound libraries. I will get back to you about a collab, I have a few projects to have to finish before I can start anything else. It is nice to 'meet' you.
I thought the angels part was just fine.
It cracks me up how sound recordings don't really make a bit of difference on getting picked up. I've had stuff that i spent a ton of money polishing up and doesn't get picked up. Then a song like "Callous" get's picked up and I recorded it in a spare bedroom at a friends house. Go figure...
A good song is a good song. That’s why I post some rough cuts. The feed back tells me if I have an appealing melody and a strong hook or not. I don’t care about the ratings on recording quality or musicianship. One afternoon I stumbled on a TV show I think called Scrubs. Anyway this guy is supposed to be dead and is playing an acoustic guitar in this scene. Thought I’d never heard the tune but I immediately liked it. Then I realized it was that guy from Men at Work and he was doing an acoustic version of their big hit “Overkillâ€. No sax, no bass or drums no production works. Nice chord changes a catchy melody and a great hook. A good song is a good song. Those two guys that wrote “Buy ME A Rose†that was a #1 hit for Kenney Rogers and Luther Vandross said in an interview that they recorded the demo in the barn and that you could hear the cows mooing in the background. A good song is a good song.
Awesome story!!
Thanks guys for sharing your experiences. I've got a lot of material I've been afraid to post or submit because the recordings are bad, yet I feel they are my strongest songs. I guess I need to just go ahead and let them out, get the feedback, and see what happens. Like Uncle says, a good song is a good song, right?
Air'em out!
We wanna hear em. Don't worry about the guys with all the cool equipment, even they know a good song when they hear it. This is a note I sent to Nashville Joe about what we do as composers. Hi Nashville Joe, Yes indeed, you may very well be an Electric Dirt Clod. The Electric Dirt Clods is a Broadjam underground collective comprised of musicians who've been knocked around enough to know that putting down someone else's music is not the way to improve your own work. Writing music isn't about going ten rounds and knocking out the other guy/girl, it's a life long passion. We all have a gift we get to share, and while some songs may be a bit better than others, so what. You would be a welcome addition to our underground. However in the words of Groucho Marx "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member." You may abstain from joining. Post away ............kenney
Great way to look at it! I feel exactly the same way. Thanks for supporting music. Recorded top notch or otherwise!!!
A Guy my age who I don't even know told me "stick to porn your music sucks". Why is this?
He's sexually frustrated?
Antho's probably right / or musically frustrated. Regardless, some people think the most (universally recognized as...) brilliant music in the world sucks. Stick with your own artistic vision, Nina. You've got something really good going on.
Ignore him. Watching porn with the sound turned all the way up has affected his hearing.
thanks everyone.
Just listening to "I Dream the Dream" for the first time... Wonderful! Love the line, "Graveyards hold a wealth of dreams that never did come true. To become one of these I refuse." I'm sure many here can identify. Nice job!
Thanks Shawn ... that seems to be everyones favorite line in the song. I am pleased it touches people. That was the motive behind the song to encourage others to not give up on their dream. Thanks for your comment.
I'm looking for some feedback on my song 'Those Feelings'. If anyone has time, please take a listen and let me know what you think. Thanks!
Hey... I really like the chord changes. It sounds to me that it could be faster say 112BPM. It sort of lays there and that takes away from the song. I'd cut the intro in half. You have a catchy hook, it just takes too long to get to it. But the song definitely has potential. Lennon & McCartney went to the studio with a tune that was down tempo. They were going for a Roy Orbison kinds of feel. George Martin told em "NO" and to go back and rework it. The next day they went back to the studio with an up tempo version of the same song and "Please Please Me" went on to become their first number one hit. Ya just never know. Give it a shot... or not kenney
Thanks for your comments Kenney. I agree, it does lay there a bit. I just tried it out and 112bpm is pretty fast so I'd have to change the groove to get it to work up that high. But I think doing so might also make it sound more contemporary, and maybe that's a plus. You've given me some ideas! Thanks for checking it out!
Hey there. A kind comment you made on another artist's page brought me to your profile to check you out. So I listened to The Tale of Johnny Wade, and man, it caught me with the riff at the beginning and kept me until the very end. Nice story, and a nice sounding tune. Very cool. Just wanted to tell you I'm glad I listened.
Awesome! Thanks so much! I really appreciate that. It's nice to get noticed for good things. So many times these days it's only the bad stuff. Lol I think there is a song in that somewhere.
Janet, you own the MO Top Ten!
Hi Benjamin, Thank you for reviewing "Opus 219". It is certainly something of an honor to be reviewed by a prolific classical composer such as yourself. I appreciate you taking the time. Although I often compose short pieces like this when sitting at the piano, "Opus 219" is the first one of these I've actually recorded. (An apple fell on my head one day and I realized I had been throwing away potentially good material by not doing so all these years.) I was especially proud that you liked the feeling of the performance; that is a key component for me. Since emotion inspires the piece, I want the listener to be able to feel that emotion as well, as if they were there in the same moment it was initially felt. And the hiss... Yes, thank you for bringing that to my attention. I need more work in that area. I will have to be more careful with recording levels and make sure I have a good, clean sound. I'm thankful you spoke well of the song in spite of the noise! I appreciate all your comments, and it would be a privilege to have you review more of my material in the future. Thanks much.
Greetings Shawn- Thank you for your kind words. I think that piece is worthy of re-recording. I too look forward to hearing more of your compositions. Record all your compositions, it is a good exercise and I think we could all use to hear them. Cheers!! -Benjamin
Opus 405 .... just beautiful!!! :)
Wow... Thank you so much!
You are welcome Shawn... thank you.
VERY creative Bio comments! :) made me laugh .... perhaps because I can identify!
Congrats to you on "Cold Is"... #1 on the New Age Alternative charts. Great song!
thanks lol
Damn those nuns!!
Thanks a lot
Just checked out your youtube channel... You are incredibly talented, and extremely funny!
I'm #3 for all bets are off? How did that happen? Seriously?
Was actually wondering why you hadn't gotten up there sooner.
Hey guys, please take a listen to my song "I'm Just Trying To Forget" I'd like to get an opinion of what genre it is? Thanks!!!!!!!!!
Hi there. So, first of all... your song is brilliant! Kept me listening from beginning to end. Genre? Hmmm... that's a tough one. Here at Broadjam, 'Unique - Soundtrack', or 'Pop Standards' would be fitting. I think it clearly wants to be sung on the stage. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Good job! I would say jazz alternative ..
Thanks guys!
Hey Shawn, Thanks for the thoughtful review of Time with You. Vintage, live recording, pretty old....my newer stuff is more professionally produced. But for what it is, glad you got the message of the song clearly. Spending Time with God is awesome. Mrs. Kate
