Story Behind The Song
This song expresses my sadness about the tragedy of abortion. The child addressed in the song could represent any of the millions of unborn children throughout the world who lose their lives to abortion.
Song Description
In this song, I speak to child whose life was prematurely ended due to an act of elective abortion. The song speaks to the possibilities and contributions to the world that the child could have made had she been allowed to live.

Lyrics
Little One
Verse 1
Little one, behold the wonders that this world could hold for you.
Little one, so full of promise of the dreams that could come true.
A doctor who could heal the sick and help the pain to cease,
A scientist who finds the cure that ends a dread disease,
A diplomat that finds a way to bring the world to peace,
A future only you could bring to pass.
Little one, your tiny beating heart so worthy to be loved,
Little one, surely you must be a gift from God above.
But a doctor with a knife took away your precious life,
Now only God knows just what you could have been.
Verse 2
Little one, think of the difference in this world that you could make.
Little one, you are a miracle, and God makes no mistakes.
They said that they weren't satisfied, they'd rather have a boy,
They knew that there were other options that they could employ.
Though you could bring another loving family so much joy,
Alas, the miracle was not to be.
Little one, your tiny fingers reach to steal our hearts away,
Little one, you could grow to be a mom yourself some day,
But a doctor with a knife took away your precious life,
Now only God knows just what you could have been.
Bridge
They said that it was carelessness that brought you into being,
But they could solve it without much ado.
Let's end this now, the time's not right, we'll have another chance,
But there won't be another chance for you.
Verse 3
Little one, think of the wealth of love and joy that you could give.
Little one, the difference you could make if only you could live.
Your birth would not have been a danger to your mother's health,
Nor product of some evil deed too painful to retell,
And though you may not be perfect in each and every way
Who among us here can claim to be?
Little one, in the loving arms of Jesus you will stay.
Little one, I hope with all my heart I'll meet you there some day,
Since a doctor with a knife took away your precious life,
Now only God knows just what you could have been.
Only God knows just what you could have been.
Only the Good Lord knows just what you could have been.
