Story Behind The Song
My wife and I have always tried to be good stewards of the earth. She has always said she doesn't want me to waste a dime on a fancy funeral, just have her cremated and her ashes put on the compost pile. Cremated, yes, but I'm not sure if I can bring myself to put her on the compost pile. No worries, I will probably go first.
Song Description

Lyrics
LAY ME DOWN
by Scott Aycock ( 10/12/05)
Lay me down in a field of clover
Lay me down underneath blue skies
Don't cry for me when I pass over
To that sweet heavenly home by and by.
CHORUS
You see we're called from our birth
To find our place upon this earth
And leave behind a better place
And when we go take only grace.
Don't waste your dime on a fancy coffin
And old pine box will surely do
Or better yet just spread my ashes
Across a field of bonnets blue
CHORUS
If you must cry then cry a river
That will carry my sins away
To the arms of our dear savior
Where at last our burdens lay
CHORUS
