Story Behind The Song
It is one thing to give your life to God and another thing to develop and maintain that relationship so that it will grow. When people first get saved (at least I believe this is true) they often experience miraculous things and easy answers to prayer. I know people who have gotten miraculous healings when they have gotten saved. As time goes on, however, God expects us to grow up and not to expect instant gratification every time we get a little uncomfortable. The fruit of the spirit need to start kicking in after a while (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control) I have spoken to many Christians who have trouble making that transition. They say things like, "When I was in this situation before, God just came through and I didn't have to do anything!
Why isn't God doing the same thing now?" I have seen Christians get evicted or lose things in their life expecting God to bail them out, and when it doesn't happen they lose faith. God wants us to learn to be long suffering and that is for doing what is right not in sinning against others or God Himself.

Lyrics
THE BRIDE OF CHRIST
Words and Music by JOANNA
Why do you love me, I find it hard to understand.
Your tender touch and warm embrace, the way you lead me by the hand.
Tell me that there should be no questioning, my mind should never have a doubt.
That surely you are right beside me, and I will never be left out.
Chorus
My Lord you are my savior, my lover and my life.
And to think your love is unconditional, as I am you take me for your wife.
I want so much to please you as any lover would.
But my flesh is weak though my spirit seeks to do everything that it should.
But when I ask you to forgive me, you bring me to my knees.
And pour your love around me, by every hurt you do appease.
Chorus
And when I feel you near me, my questions all just pass away.
I thank you for your tenderness, and for each glorious day.
Your purpose for me shows so clearly, to love us all the way you do.
And fill us with your Holy Spirit, that we may have our lives renewed.
Chorus
