Story Behind The Song
This song began as an instrumental piece (thus the long intro!) that just came out of my hands one day on the piano in the student union where I went to graduate school (UNC-Pembroke) back in the fall of 2005. The lyrics came years later but reflected how I felt when I was in school, uncertain of my future. The second verse was actually finalized the very day the vocal was recorded in the studio.
Song Description
This girl is at a crossroads. She's anxious about the future and eager to find out how her life will turn out. She ventures to guess if she'll be happy, married, still scared and angry or all-powerful. She thinks she's headed in the right direction but still wonders what will become of her.

Lyrics
Well I know I'm not alone
And I could always go back home
But this uncertainty is killing me
When will I know what I can't foresee?
Will I be calm and cool?
Content? Carefree?
Or a happily married mother of three?
Still a scared and angry
Little girl?
Or the all-powerful Queen of the World?
There's no signs on this backroad
And the map ain't drawn to scale
But my heart says I have the right of way
And I'll have my own story to tell
What will become of me?
What will become of me?
What will become of me?
This detour seems so long
But I know it can't be wrong
I have so much love to give, that's why I live
Maybe I'll finally be someone else's song
Will I be calm and cool?
Content? Carefree?
Or a happily married mother of three?
Still a scared and angry
Little girl?
Or the all-powerful Queen of the World?
There's no signs on this backroad
And the map ain't drawn to scale
But my heart says I have the right of way
And I'll have my own story to tell
What will become of me?
What will become of me?
What will become of me?
