King Ramesses II, son of King Sethos I, ruled from 1290-1224 B.C As a fierce warrior he had repeatedly campaigned against Egypt?s enemies, such as the Hittites of Syria, with his highly trained charioteers, archers and foot soldiers. After a victorious battle, a parade was in order to display the pride of the conquering armies. To the fanfare of the drums and trumpeters, foot soldiers marched captured slaves and exotic animals from the conquered lands through the main streets of Egyptian cities. Behold the spectacle and glory of the powerful Egyptian army!
