We Make Fire (Instrumental)

Story Behind The Song

The music, written by the group's lead guitarist Paul Haga, had been swirling around for a few years until it made it's way onto a demo disc and in the lead singer's CD player. Based on an artistic rendering with a bunch of random words on it, "We Make Fire" borrowed the idea of two things rubbing up against each other to light a spark, but took a more romantic spin on it all.

Song Description

"We Make Fire" has the body of rock, with the heart of a ballad. A truly collaborative piece by the band, by the mere fact that the music was originally penned by the guitarist, the lyrics and melody by the lead singer, but sing by the group's bassist, Jeff Gyllen. His delivery of the melody was of course unique as well - and the drums were replaced by a more fluid, consistent feel by Brian Henz. This marks one of the first 'major 50/50' contributions of the Michelutti/Haga songwriting partnership.
