Song Description

This song is a tribute to my parents. I wrote the lyrics the night before my father died, after we had said our final words to each other. The song was meant to celebrate their lives together, the chapters already played out, and the chapters yet to come.

I remember risin' early to go fishin' with my dad
And playin' catch and flyin' kites when I was just a lad
My brothers and my sisters and I knew a man so strong
The greatest thing he did for us was marryin' our mom

He met her playin' in the band when they were in high school

He came home to his sweetheart, and they tied a knot so strong
It never would unravel, for together they belonged
