Oh Come All Ye Faithful

Story Behind The Song

We like to use the phrase - "Christmas!! What's that got to do with the Middle East?" OR The Middle East!! What's that got to do with Christmas?" The cover of this album depicts a battle in the time of the Crusades. The Muslim armies are camped on one side of the hill and the Christians are camped on the other side. For one night though there is a lull in the fighting and the Christians hear the Muslims singing, playing their traditional instruments and being joyful. For that one night these two enemies put their arms down, let their guard down and join each other in food, drink, song and celebration of life. For one night they experience this peace and happiness. For one night they all come together for A Time of Peace. We specifically used all traditional acoustic Middle Eastern instruments since these are the instruments that would have been played back then. We feature kanoon (Middle Eastern stringed zither), nay (Middle Eastern flute), oud (Middle Eastern lute), zurna (Middle Eastern oboe), doumbek (Middle Eastern drum), riq (Middle Eastern tambourine), zarb (Persian wooden drum), davul (Middle Eastern folk drum and def (Middle Eastern frame drum).
