Brothers of the Baladi mix traditional Mediterranean and Middle Eastern songs with worldly original compositions, well-chosen cover tunes and vocals in English, Spanish, Turkish, French, Armenian, Farsi & Arabic. We combine this with exotic rhythms, familiar grooves and traditional instruments (oud, saz, mizmar, tabla / doumbek, bendir, davul, def & riq) fueled by guitar, bass and drums. Thus we have created a sensational Global Rock sound that makes audiences smile and dance as we cross many borders and bridge multiple cultures.
Portland Oregon based Brothers of the Baladi have released 12 CDs distributed exclusively with Burnside Distribution Corporation, our # 11 Just Do What's Right CD was nominated for a Grammy in 2008, we've toured North America and The UK and our music is and has been heard on TV and radio (Lost, Core Culture, Sexual Healing, XM, NPR, Air America and many radio stations all over the globe).
