Story Behind The Song
We wrote this song with two things in mind:
(1) The idiotic 2nd Gulf War. It was a combination of how completely insane Bush / Cheney and their criminal people were, we all knew there were NO weapons of mass destruction, how stupid the public was to believe him and the frustration that there was no stopping these immoral men.
And
(2) Thinking about social issues; just like what the lyrics say: " No homes for our people, sons killing mothers, searching for love on the net, etc... " ?The chorus sums it all up well: Most of us know what's right. Most of us are not blind and dumb. JUST DO WHATS RIGHT!!
Please note that one of the key elements in this song is the way we use the Masmoudi rhythm (a famous and old Egyptian / Arabic rhythm) in the beginning and middle of the song - along with the Middle Eastern doumbek (drum), theTurkish saz (stringed lute), the mizmar (Middle Eastern folk horn) and the riq (Middle Eastern tambourine). We weave all this in with our western keys, guitar, bass and drums and our rockin' groove to signify our cross cultural sound.

Lyrics
Times they are crazy - times they are tough
Prices are rising - cash ain't enough
Sons killing mothers an fathers forget
Searching for love on the net
CHORUS
Don't turn away
Hold back the night
Don't buy the madness
Just do what's right
Not all that hard
Open your eyes
Don't turn away
Just do what's right
No homes for our people - who live in the streets
Murder is nothing for those you just meet
We're hating our brothers we don't even know
Where did our families all go.
CHORUS
Don't turn away
Hold back the night
Don't buy the madness
Just do whats right
Not all that hard
Open your eyes
Don't turn away
Just do what's right
Colors are blending and walls coming down
Be good to each others let's turn it around
Bigots are dying so people keep trying
A new race is rising up now
CHORUS
Don't turn away
Hold back the night
Don't buy the madness
Just do whats right
Not all that hard
Open your eyes
Don't turn away
Just do what's right
Just do what's right?
