For All You're Worth

Story Behind The Song

I was asked to perform at a Cancer Research Relay for Life Candle of Hope ceremony and wanted to sing a song that contained my philosophy of life--which is that since no one knows whether they'll even see tomorrow, we all need to live each day for all we're worth and appreciate all the positive things that each day contains at the time we're experiencing them.

Song Description

Appreciate what each day holds and all the blessings in your life at the time you're experiencing them because you don't know what tomorrow will bring.

Lyrics

For All You're Worth

This life is unpredictable from the moment that we're born,
We arrive without a clue to how soon we'll be gone;
Since we can't know the day that we'll be taken from this earth,
The only thing to do is live each day for all we're worth.

Don't mean to sound too preachy or wise beyond my years,
It wasn't long ago I was still wet behind the ears,
But recent knocks and set-backs, disappointments and deep hurt
Taught me to live each day I'm given for all I'm worth.

Live your hopes and live your dreams, live life for its own sake,
It can't be done half-heartedly with your foot down on the brake;
However long it is before you leave this home on earth
Take pride in having lived each day you've had for all it's worth.

I may not have much money or live in a stately home,
But I've got friends and family and a place to call my own
And I've done everything I've ever set myself to do,
Followed my heart and lived my dream the way it's felt right to.

If I've tried and failed that's something that I know can accept,
But the one thing I'm afraid of is to end up with regrets,
I really do believe that we're put here upon this earth
To live each day we're granted here for all we're worth.

Live your hopes and live your dreams, live life for its own sake,
It can't be done half-heartedly with your foot down on the brake;
However long it is before you leave this home on earth
Take pride in having lived each day you've had for all it's worth.

Then however many years pass since you left this home on earth
You'll be recalled as having lived each day for all you're worth.
