Story Behind The Song
this song is about me just being able to be myself every once in a while. i'm always so scared of everything, including life. there's always so much at stake. yea i mess up. yea, i'm not perfect but could i just be myself no matter what the consequences?
the opening verse was inspired by a scene from the movie "Gladiator." the way the scene was photographed when he was coming home was magical! the verse states that we're all headed to some place out of this world (over yonder) but even so i'm asking FM to go through it with me. to take that chance.
the 2nd verse is about how imperfect i am. sometimes tired of the rat race and apologetic for any relationships i ruined along he way.
the last verse is a call and prayer that when i die, as my father before me has, that he recognize me and i him. but for now we are all here in this world whether we like it or not. and even the brightest minds in the world are equally as ignorant as any fool as to why any of us is here.

Lyrics
There's a road over yonder
Quite possibly the way
I don't know how to get there
But I'll meet you there just the same
Where the weeds they do grow so tall
And the sun will warm our face
Come along and take a chance with me
I'm sure it'll be worth the wait
(chorus)
I just want to be myself, be myself today
It's better to be myself than to give it all away
I just want to see myself getting through another day
I just want to be myself, be myself today
There ain't no stopping us now
There won't be no turning back
Don't want to get into a foot race
But I see I've been losing my place
Been trying hard not to try too hard for ya
Just wasn't my best
Well yes I'm totally responsible
For putting our love to rest
(chorus)
Now is the time I'm with ya
And here is the place
I don't know how we got this far
It's really any blind fools guess
I may not know what I need to know
But finally figured out who I am
Now on the road over yonder
I'll pray I'll recognize my father's face
(chorus)
