Story Behind The Song
recorded one morning in summer of 2009. i never intended to record this song but i came across it, charted it out and recorded it one morning when i didn't have to go to work. the guitar solo at the end was a pleasant surprise. it's not perfect but i pulled it off in one take. i probably wanted to get the hell out of the house and play tennis. i'm actually proud of that solo. the harmonies are off as well but as i said, i never intended to record it so it was never about perfection. i just got into it and had to finish it so i could get on with recording the songs i intended to.
Song Description
well from there, the song took off and it became a song about me asking why do i have to see life in a darker light? why do i have to see the pain and misery? why can't it always be more upbeat? why all the paradoxes? i'd be happy with a more middle of the road perspective. not too hi, or low. but i feel i've been cursed to see life in the extremes. i do laugh a lot too. it's just that i use the laughing to cover up the pain. i guess that's why i love funny movies. this will never be a commercial song but i'm happy with it still the same. the verses remind me of "Dear Prudence" and the solo has a Steve Miller feel. i don't know which song, but there's just something about it. funny thing is, i don't even know how to play one SM song. i guess we never escape our past influences, no matter how subtle.

Lyrics
Out on a distance, far far away i saw a blind man painting my face so perfectly.
I stood in his light from this other world, surrounded by a thousand colors i never ever saw before.
A little further on out on a distant plain, i heard the deaf man singing a song so perfectly.
Well i stood in his light then i closed my eyes surrounded by a thoudsand sounds i never ever heard before.
Now it's a way for me,
Just a way for me.
CHORUS:
Why can't i walk away from you?
Why can't i see these things the way you do?
I keep trying to run away,
everytime i hear you calling my name.
You see the beauty and i feel the pain,
maybe it's always, just been this way for me, been this way for me.
Out on a distance not too far away, i spied a clown wiping some tears running down his face.
A little bit closer well i swear i heard, i heard the deaf man singing this song,
in perfect harmony, in perfect harmony.
BRIDGE:
There's no turning back from this, you've got to find your way.
Well God knows i've tried my best, for something inbetween.
I've held the devils hand, and i've heard the angel sing.
But no i can't deceive myself, it's just this way for me.
Just this way for me.
CHORUS
