Story Behind The Song
I was driving on the highway one winter's day and noticed a funeral procession exiting. This brought about a sort of revelation aboumy own mortality and how I should not be dwelling upon things which I cannot control.
Song Description
This song is a lyrical and musical answer to the question, Why do I care about the past at all? My own mortality has been made very clear to me. The time with loved ones should be all that matters but it is hard to live this sentiment. The violin plays a sort of call and answer with the vocals. This song sounds like a longing for another time. The chorus is heart felt and the bridge section features a small orchestal arrangement which I wrote and played on multiple violin parts.

Lyrics
I was driving in heavy snow a funeral procession passed me on the right.
What's in your past? Why do I care?
If I could be honest I might have you.
Will you cover me for good?
Girl, I'd change everything if I could.
Only a call away that keeps me from seeing the truth about me and you.
Scraps of paper, forgotten poetry I threw out years ago.
Scattered memories and torn up promises that glare right back at me.
