nice rhythm on this one, also words good. proud of anybody with this great attitude! crafty words, reminds me of the 70's-very happy times.
This is a great song, the message is so sweet and pure, really like the warmth and sincerity in it. Great composition.
The meter of this song is wonderfully steady with a comfortable acoustic guitar which I could listen to all day! The vocal pitch and quality are lovely; very easy going feel. Pictures that come to mind are walking onward through a frustration or tough day, or driving along a country road, choosing to leave a tough situation. The lyric of 'Don't need a hand-out just a hand-up' is clever, and wins the song.
I really like the rawness of the vocals/guitar by themselves for this piece, it makes it very personal.
This song definitely evoked emotion and was relatable. I thought it was very original and you usually don't hear a man asking for help, so it sent a good message.
Country music is my least favorite genre of music. That being said this song was very James taylor-ish to me . I could see a guy walking towards the horizon while the credits roll with this tune playing. Nice work.
I like the sound its very retro sounding.
I feel like I have that chord progression before but cant place it right now.. good job keep writing
this is an emotional tear jerker but with a thread of hope =)
Like the melody. The tune reminds me of an old Bob Dylan sounding song. Nice lyrics. It is a little difficult to hear all the lyrics as the instrumentation is a bit loud compared to the vocal.
This is a good song, full of feeling. I liked the guitar playing, and the voice was very pleasant. As I play keyboards, I could hear a bigger production of this, with some strings behind, adding fullness and volume. I believe a lot of people could relate to the lyrics.
A very nice catchy song. I found myself head-bobbing & enjoying it!! Loved the vocal, smooth transitions between stanzas & choruses. A great message as well.
What really strikes me is the honesty of this track. It comes through in your vocals and performance. I felt like you were sitting in my living room singing it just to me. Could you hear me clapping at the end? The guitar suits the song perfectly, nice, consistent playing. Lyrics are well written and you stuck to your theme and point well. Bridge is skillfully done and really works to bring the song over the falls. I like the first verse the best. It shows the most originality. I really like the chorus; it's a very singable hook. Nice ending!
Very good lyrics, great hook - sounds a little like John Prine.
needs work
This has a very John Mayer-esque quality to it for me, which is meant as a massive compliment. I really like this, which I didn't think I would when seeing the category at first (just not my thing usually). It's a very strong song, excellent guitar playing and lyrics. Has a nice warm familiar feel to it. Love the guitar work here, nice and subtle and very effective. Also a very strong vocal melody. Great song-writing, best of luck to you :)
Here is a song that recalls the singer-songwriter era of the seventies during which artistic statements could be made with a single voice and guitar. The message within the song is inspirational and uplifting and the vocals do a great job expressing emotions. The guitar playing is tuneful and full of tone. Toss in a catchy melody and you have this great idea for a song!
I would like to hear this after it was given to a good producer.I have been where the lyrics are coming from and came to the same conclusion, so yes it did invoke a reaction, I liked the chord progression> For what its worth I think you need to slow it down a bit so the message in the lyrics can be heard and appreciated. You're just "right there". I like it.
