Strong hooks, singable melodies, intelligent & memorable lyrics, unexpected twists. That's what I enjoy in music and strive to create. Sometimes I tackle difficult concepts and subjects that most songwriters avoid. I don't limit myself in terms of musical genres, so my songs vary in style and form, and aren't easily categorized by genre. But they all have a story to tell. I've collaborated with many lyricists and written some great songs that way (like "White Witch", finalist in the 2003 Unisong Songwriting Contest).
Please enjoy my music. Note my demos are just that, and not intended to be radio-ready. Questions or comments? Leave a comment (if you're a Broadjam member) or look me up on Facebook.

UPDATE: Since Broadjam seems more tailored to performance of popular music, whereas I am mostly a composer of songs and choral sheet music, I no longer actively maintain or monitor this site. If you are interested in my compositions and/or transcriptions of historical music, check out my extensive works at https://musescore.com/rebecca_rufin

I'm an accomplished classical pianist, choir director, passable alto, published choral composer, full-time mom, and full-time licensed mechanical engineer (tedious - but pays for the equipment). Unless you count church services, weddings, and the occasional volunteer concert, I don't really consider myself a "performing artist".
