Hello there.
I started to get into writing words/lyrics when i was about 18. It's something i really enjoyed because i'm not too good at expressing myself verbally. So writing words instead of speaking them pretty much let me say what i mean to say.
In the past few years I've turned to making my own music, it's something that i really like to try & do.
Bands that I like & take some influence from are Jamiroquai, AC/DC, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Metallica, White Stripes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, Muddy Waters, it goes on & on.
Only problem is, i can't really play anything. I've got a guitar & a electronic drum kit that i use as best i can, even though alot of the time it sounds like a bear eating a salad.
I should get some lessons, but until then I'll just keep making stuff up & trying my best to make my own music.
Who cares as long as you enjoy it.
Why?
Hello there, I'm Mark, I live in the lovely North East of England, where it's warm & cozy, if you've got the heating on. Otherwise it's like living in the north pole, and everyone has a pet penguin, except for me, i can't afford one.
I've love music and have a pretty diverse taste. I started to get into writing words and lyrics when i was around 18, it's something i really enjoyed because i'm not too clever at expressing myself verbally. So writing words instead of speaking them pretty much allows me to say what i want & mean to say.
I bought my first guitar probably around 6 years ago, maybe even before that. I picked it up once or twice in the first week of owning it then put it back down, and never touched for years after that. I'm sure i heard it cry occassionly, but giving it a sandwich or a piece of cake & some warm breast milk normally shut it up.
I think i've always at least tried to be, or like to think that i'm a pretty creatively inclined person. When i was younger i used to draw pictures all the time, then in my very late teens i ended up being interested in video & film making, which i then ended up going to college to study, & do other things, ha.
Then in the past few years my attention has totally turned to music, i have found out that this is what i really do love & at least like to try and do.
Looking back i think music has always had a big influence on me, that probably has something to do with that fact i used to be tied up & forced to listen to Barry Manilow all day. Obviously that didn't really happen, because if it did, i would not be alive today would i?
I think it just has a lot to do with all of my family being into music in lots of different ways, be it playing instruments or listening to records & tapes.
Now the only problem is, i can't play anything, not even basically. I've got a guitar & a electronic drum kit that i use as best i can, even though alot of the time it sounds like a grizzly bear ironing a shirt while eating a salad.
I should really get some lessons. Anyway until then I'll just keep making things up & trying my best to make my own music.
Who cares as long as you enjoy it. I think that's all that matters.
