Holly Brook dropped out of high school to follow her musical passion. Surprisingly, she earned full encouragement from her mom. Every year of grade school, Holly’s family received a “truancy” letter from the principal with threats of fines based upon absences due to gigs and musical theatre. Luckily, they never carried through with them. Finally, self-driven Holly became “home-schooled” in the music biz.

Since age 6, Holly was performing all over the Midwest and beyond in a mother-daughter duo, Generations. At 14, she immersed herself in the Madison jazz scene and at 16, Holly hit the road to LA where she met up with writers/producers Jon Ingoldsby, Rob Hoffman and Heather Holley. Together, they produced a demo which grabbed industry attention. In fall 2004, Holly signed a recording contract with Machine Shop Recordings, an imprint of Warner Brothers run by the band Linkin Park. Her first album will be released early 2006.

This past year and a half, she has been performing at west coast singer-songwriter venues opening for the likes of John Oates and Brit Jazz phenom, Jamie Cullum. She also opened for her idol Willy Porter October in LA. With a co-written song on actress Brie Larsen's album, Holly continues to pitch songs to films and artists.

Recently, Holly contributed to Mike Shinoda's side project album, “The Rising Tied”, under the name Fort Minor. Mike also includes collaborators Common, Black Thought of the Roots, Kenna, and Styles of Beyond. The album is executive produced by Jay-Z and will hit stores late November. (www.fortminor.com)

Holly feels she has a lot to offer the world through her music and is ready to do what ever it takes to perform the rest of her life without working a regular day job. . . Not that she’d get one anyway as a drop-out. To Holly, playing music is the closest thing to FLYING.
