Wish you could something with my songs. I am nearly 67 and just a little bit more than disabled. I keep getting people in the biz I am a good song writer and that at the very least some of my songs should be picked up for movies, or used by an artist but I am done. I know writers lie yourself would do wonders with some of my songs but I know how it is. Truth be told, I've never had a lesson in anything and I am self taught and have been asked several times if I wanna co-write etc etc. But I don't have the equipment or know how to get my music to the right people. I became friends with Doc Watson and his wife. They liked some of my music enough to call me one night and we talked for hours and became friends. I nearly died the same day Doc died. That really shook me. An intern for the Dix!e Ch!cks nearly took my song Already Over You but Daddy Maines turned it down being right after his daughter said things about the president. Said they were going a different direction. "Already Over You" would have been perfect for them. Anyway, sorry for babbling. You're great. Really. Love your music.
thank you for the awesome review and I just sent you that song with the lyric sheet to it.
thanks for the comments on 'hog tied heart', i've updated the genre per your catch. go steelahs!
Rest in Peace Nashvile Joe. You were and will be a beloved person in the Broadjam family. You were so kind in your interactions with me. You will be missed by many. Hopefully you are in a beter place.
RIP NJ :>(
God needed a great song writing friend and picked Nashville Joe. So sad to hear the news, Nashville Joe always had kind words to say about my songs and I always enjoyed his interactions. May little pieces of his music live on in each of us. NJ, you will be missed.
RIP Joe. You were a great decent man and you will be missed!

Thanks for the five star tap for 'make believe'. Much appreciated. KenM
Hello Ken! I just came to your profile after reviewing "1935" and just wanted to mention that while I was listening, I thought how great it would have been to hear this tune on a PBS documentary I had seen recently about the dust bowl. Ironic, after reading your song description. My parents were adults through the Great Depression and I am so thankful that they passed along to me their great appreciation of the things most people take for granted.
Thank you Jo Ann. 1935 is a favorite of mine. You might also enjoy 'Head on down the road'. Both these songs have still photo videos on broadjam you might look at too.
Hi Ken Just listened to your song "Long Chicago Night" such a sad and moving story, brought a tear to my eye! Great song Cheers Milly
Thank you...
Ken thanks for your review of Pocket Full Of Dreams. The song is actually based on a true story.
Hi Ken, Thanks for the kind review of We Can Be Lovers Again, it's very fair and constructive. Quite a coincidence that the system put this out right now because I'm in the middle of a collaboration with a certain Broadjam lady to record this song as a transatlantic duet! I would be happy to let you hear the final outcome if you just let me know. Thanks again, Bob
Hi Ken, This is the song as a transatlantic duet!! http://www.broadjam.com/artists/songs.php?artistID=98970&mediaID=640955 1
Gonna Boom, Nice work, got Jason Aldean wrote all over it
that would be cool....thanks!
Hi! " Drums on the wind" is really really cool!! Love the feel of how it takes you back in time with the Indians:)!! Amazing vocals!!!!!! Great production, the lyrics are great!!!:))
Thank you Julia. 'Drums' is a special project for me.
You can surely tell!! It's such a special song!!!!!!!:)) best with it and all your music:)
hey vm, thanks for the review of 'i want everything'..that was a glorified 'work' ruff and the drums were fake....we were in the middle of that when then the guy with studio up and left for california....never did anything else with it.... thanks kenm write on/rock on!
I just randomly reviewed 'Stonewall' and really loved the song, very powerful. Wasn't sure if it was Christian or just generally spiritual, but a great song which I will listen to again, thanks guys.
Thanks Chris. Actually, it's not 'Christian' really, though I could see how someone would get there. It's based on a poem called "the last words of Stonewall Jackson" that we set to music. The tune closes our most recent record. Glad you enjoyed and thanks for reviewing it.
hey tristyn, thanks for the review of 'until the words i do'....have a great 2014! i listened to your songs...cool groove! write on/rock on! kenm
hey KEN--I just finished reviewing 2001 songs on broadjam and your song A MAN LIKE THIS was the 2001st song I reviewed--CHEERS--joe.
Wow...that's a ton of song reviews....but good for you! Fun ain't it!!?? Proud to be 2001....and thankd for the listen!
Hi! How have you been? Congrats on your top tens!! Have a Merry Christmas!.... Julia
thank you! you have a merry christmas too! that last top 10 was for 'head on down the road'...a song that has done well. it was immediately signed into several l.a. music catalogs (from broadjam opportunities). at one time that song was in 9 different top 10's, including the 'world top 10'...i'm pretty happy with that one...it's part of a special project cd i've put together for songs i've written to help bring homelessness more forward, particularly because nearly 20% of our homeless are military vets. the on-line cd will be out very soon...it is called 'almost blues'. on it will be: head on down the road out in the street the man with no name 1935 i'm waiting on a harmonica track for 'the man with no name', then i'll release it to i-tunes and amazon, etc. all the proceeds go to the homeless shelter, or i just give cash from physical cd sales to the homeless i encounter on street corners here in nashville. i also give the guys more cd's to sell and they just keep the money....it really has been both fun and rewarding doing this. the 4 songs are all on my broadjam page or at www.kenmatthiesen.com
That's so wonderful to hear!! God bless your big heart!!! And best to all of your musical pursuits!!.... Julia:)
Get the hell out...That's telling her! I really like this song...I hope real life didnt inspire it...good luck with it...I think you have a winner Kenm
