Hi Eric, thanks so much for your excellent review of Waking Dream. Totally agree with you on all your comments, it definitely needs rearranging so really appreciate your feedback here. Glad you liked it also :) All the best to you, Mal
Thankyou very much for your thoughtful and kind review of "Shot to the Head" ;-)
Eric. Thank you for your useful and comprehensive review of 'Take My Hand'. I had been thinking of re-working it for some time but the studio recently told me that it's impossible..IT problems...so I'd have to start it again from scratch. But I will bear your comments in mind should I decide to re-record it. Regards. David
Hello Eric, thanks for your thoughtful review of Hero in my Eyes. I dedicated this song to my parents, who raised 9 children and did a mighty fine job of it. They are now 91 and 93 and still my heroes. Mrs Kate in FL
Eric, Congrats on Fisherman, and remember to take Lauri's advices and pour out your love like wine! You need to get connected to get your sound Loved. Let me lead you to the Light so you might Be the Light. - N
I am the light. - E
Eric, thanks so much for the kind review of I Feel Alive. :-)
Eric. Thank you very much for your positive review of 'Starlight'. Regards. David
Thank you for the 5 star rating of Fisherman! Eric
Thanks, Chet for the 5 star rating of Mirror! :)
Hey, you two! Thanks for the 5 star rating :)
Hi cheers for the review of tell me i appreciate it cheers
Hey Eric, Thanks for the great review of my song, "Electra". It comes from my first album, "Time Loop", recorded in 1971 in SF! It still stands the test of time! Stop by and listen to more old AND new at my website .... I'll come back and listen to more when I am not at work ... Best, Chet Nichols
Well, that would explain the authenticity. :) Thanks for the great song.
Hi Eric, thank you for taking time to review "I gave my love a cherry" it is a lullaby and one of the names for it is "The Riddle Song"I believe out of England. It took my husband a number of times listening to the song before he realized I was singing too him.....We were many years with out a child....All is well we ended with 3 beautiful daughters in the end....So thanks for your listen and review...a friend in music
The Fountain .. Wow I was one of the first lucky ones to hear the song. Great celebratory message. Almost religious in nature or is it nature in religion?
Thank you, Jeff. Yes, that is a great song. One of my favorites. We and a lot of fun working on that one.
Much appreciated your review of my song "They're Coming for You". I Definitely missed a bridge on this one. This song actually was a couple of years ago and I think the political message has only gotten stronger since.
Thanks for the Kind review of We belong together. I have had some good reviews, but you win! Good luck to you and happy holidays!
Hey Eric, Thanks for the tabby review of my song, "The Beetles Are Coming". Indeed, it is a 60-70's song all the way. It comes from my first LP, "Time Loop". If you like the tune, you will like this LP and also, "Waving Prairie". Yes, my, oh, my ... how musical trends have changed. Today, a lot of music is kinda cookie cutter-ish. I have a lot of reviews that kind moan a bit about the longer intros and exits. But, we approached songwriting back then with a little more art and freedom...something I miss in today's music. I still stretch my intros and exits today when I can. I think it helps to set the mood. Also, one thing I do is know and have learned over the years is ... "a good song is always a good song". Proof is that I have won several "Broadjam Best Song Competitions" with songs I wrote back in the 60's and 70's. Go figure. Anyway, I do appreciate the wonderful review and it is important to me to see that you "get the song" and what I was doing. Some don't. By the way, here is a fabulous review of the whole album: http://vinylantiquity.blogspot.com/2013/03/chet-nichols-is-on-time-loop-of-your.html 1 I'm gonna come back to your site and plug into your music and enjoy it. Gotta go to work, ya know? Best, Chet Nichols Inductee - The Kansas Music Hall of Fame
PS Didn't mean to type "Tabby" ....meant, "Fabby" ... I need new glasses! {:? D
Didn't mean to type, "tabby"...meant "fabby". I need new glasses!
Yes, Chet! I completely get that the flexibility of lengths of intro, etc was more acceptable in the past. My first solo album in the early 90s exhibits creativity in long intros and I got thumped a bit by the industry for it. It seems that songs like that tend to easily get lumped in soundtrack categories. I appreciate your work and am impressed with all that you have achieved. Eric
Thanks, buddy! My feeling is that we ARE the artists and as long as an Intro or ending is interesting or shows great instrumental skills... It is OK, I'll hear and decide for myself as the listener. Heck some if the greatest tracks ever produced had long intros. On the other hand, these days listeners want to know what you are singing about from the get-go. As a fine arts major, I learned that experimental and unique and abstract visuals not only caught a viewer's attention, but kept it longer. Moreover, people would revisit visuals that were abstract over a more classical visual painting. That said, an artist still has to be thoughtful in creating unique visuals in their songs and at the same time keep a strong common theme to keep it together. Still, as a writer, I write what wacks me over the head. Sometimes it is deep and unique and other times it is zany and off-beat... I'm just happy to receive inspirations. Anyway, gotta close up and head home. Later..... Chester
thanks for the review of Johnson's Canyon. Glad you liked it. I get the criticism of the lyrics. I left them intentionally mysterious - more of a tone poem(?) If you liked that, check out Fog driving and forgery for stuff in the same vein. Your project with Annika rocks! Great drive!
Thank you for the compliment. We are really enjoying some great success here in the Portland area. :) I intuited that the vocal was intentional and really enjoyed the piece. Looking forward to hearing more!
Hi Eric, thanks for the review of 'Ghost Dancing' glad you enjoyed it. It comes from a concept album 'Eagle' that I recorded about a year ago. spot on with the Native American reference, that's what the whole album is about. In fact the track before this, Ridgeway Glovers Lament' ends with a very chanty section. The album is on my site if your are interested, anyway, thanks again for listening and good luck. John.
Thanks Eric for your great review of Climb Inside. Much appreciated.
Wow, you have some really nice work here.... kenney
Thank you, Kate, for a great review. I recorded that piece along with 10 other unrehearsed meditations to bond with my daughter in utero and I market it for pregnancy music. However, I meant to list children's as the secondary genre. Thanks for letting me know. I changed the primary genre to New Age. Blessings to you! Eric
Wow what a cool idea...to sing meditations to your daughter while still unborn...How old is she now?
She's five and still falling asleep to the album :)
Eric Joseph: Beautiful Ambient Art! Thanks for your kind review of Talk. Blessed Be! - N
I apreciate your review on my music. Its always good to get feedback but only when its good feedback. HAHA!!
Thankyou for your very fair and thorough review of 'Not so many other girls'. Al (The Trouts)
Hey Eric - Thx for the review of "Crazy Good Day." Interesting suggestions and comment about the nagging feeling it's not quite finished. Welcome to my world! :-) I may try some rougher gts, also may try a mix that's way thinned out. I checked out some of your stuff--real strong. Hope our paths cross again one of these days. John
Thanks. I totally get that! Nothing of mine feels finished or accurate and I am currently recommitting my life to getting a ton of material to an acceptable "completion" to submit. "Just do it!" Right? Its definitely a business that requires intense focus and love. :) Peace.
Yup. Life is a tweak fest. We're just trying to get it to jell. Is a little lightning in a bottle too much to ask???
Thank you, Terese, for your the great review of "Mirror" and thank you so much for the heads up about the Backstreet Boys piano melody on the song "Incomplete". I don't listen to their music, so that is remarkably and way too similar! The pianist that played that on my Mirror feels it differently than me and I have been working on a new version. However, your new insight is definitely divine intervention motivating me to change it up a bit! Perhaps it will make the song even better! Thanks, Eric
Thanks Eric! I feel strongly about originality. The song Incomplete is pretty much the only song I like from The Backstreet Boys that I listened to just recently, so it was fresh in my mind too. I'm glad I was able to help in some way. We are all learning and growing in this business, music is its own language! All the best!
Thank you for nice review ... Best .
Thanks for the cool review of "One" Eric. I see your a drummer, that explains the mention of snare placement - nice to read reviews that notice subtle elements. Let me know what you think of the drumming in "E3's MegaKickinGroove" when you have time - good to get a drummers perspective on programed grooves.
greeting from oakland ca.....thanks for the kind review of 'ubber cool'. listened to a couple of your tunes....nice work, very well produced, very musical. i see you play drums....cool....that's how i've made my living since 1968. if ya ever get down this way you'll have to stop by a gig. hope you get a chance to chk out some of my other tunes...let me know whatcha think. later, rick
Eric, Just realized you had "Mirror" out there for sale :-) it's not in my fav's on my ipod... Once again great job
Thank you, Dezmond! That's really cool of you!
