Thanks margie for your comment. Very kind of you. I'll check out your page. Kind regards Floris Bekker
Great writing and arranging on No Trace. It creates a great mysterious vibe!
If I would've remembered you live in Amsterdam, I could've come to visit you this weekend... I'm in Hamburg :) Hi Florris!
hey Austin. in the neighborhood! Hamburg is still a little bit away. of course you would have been welcome! soon I will move house to Almere which lies 30 min from Amsterdam. had a good time in Hamburg?
Mostly business, with a lot of site seeing mixed in... yes, having a great time!
Floris, thanks so much for the 5-star rating on my song Daybreak. Much appreciated. Good luck with your music!
Post Script...... By the way, does our notorious garage band know that "Spoken Word" is a Top Ten catagory? Guess we could have summed it up nice and succinctly, with just that!....just sayin'..........Congratulations on making two of those positions on the list!
I appreciate the after thought... I do:) I actually deleted a few of my recent rants being I think I'm done having public meltdowns and slinging drama into the public forums for a while. Right or wrong it doesn't matter. I'm moving into "Shut up and show off" mode:) There's always going to be haters, posers, nay sayers and internet trolls. The more successful I become the more they'll come out and have things to say that won't line up with what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm beginning production on Primal Chapter 3 and its going to be even more of a doozy than the last 3 were. Going to be tackling some very tender and tabu topics, I'm confident it'll inspire some dialog at some point if it gets heard by more than handful of people, and to be honest... I'm tired of defending my position and work in life. I'm just going to let it speak for itself and allow the community to promote it for me. No point in pushing it like crack, last thing I want is people rolling their eyes when they see another Protilius promo hit their email box's, so yeah... Just going to try and shut up and show off for a little while:) Thanks for taking the time though dear. N
Bravo! I love the concept of "shut up and show off", however, I must say, I do love to hear your rants, for they are always thought provoking and sincere in their questioning and suppositions. Agree, no need to defend; do your art, and let it speak for itself. After the dust settles in whomever's mind it has kicked up, and any controversy it may elicit, you will have been true to your heart! My pleasure, dear Nathaniel..........
I'm going to save my rants for Primal:) The rest of it, unless of course I see something completely insane go down, is better left unsaid. I've put a lot of thought into all of this lately and it just seems to be the best choice regarding such a diverse community. God knows... Wouldn't want mobs of pitchforks and torches at my IP's doorstep every day. LOL N
Or even worst... The BLACK SHEEP exile into lepardom. Haha!!! "Shhhh, just smile and nod, that ones crazy!" (Warm smile.) N
Got it! :-)..............
once upon a time, a black leopard (dressed in sheep's clothing) came a knocking at my door. "good sir, kind sir, might I find shelter within" came a trembling voice from upon my stoop. I, feeling sorrow for this begotten creature, opened the door, and holding my Remington double barrel comfortable, yet firmly against my shoulder, unloaded both shells into his face and body. Later that night at dinner, I shared my story of the Black Sheep Leopard I had saved from a life of sorrow with family and guests. Good cheer surrounded our table as all lifted their glass to salute the Black Sheep Leopard. "May he rest in peace" so proclaimed 'Tiny Tim', the local town idiot. "May he rest in peace" we all chanted until the last drop of brandy was drained from the table decanter. END of STORY.
Thats @#$%ing dark man. lolololololol
the moral to this story is quite simple - always have a decanter of brandy on the dinner table. you never know when one might have a reason to celebrate the end of sorrow. END of MORAL to this STORY.
I am just smilin'!!!!:)))
And prayin'!:))
Chapter 3!! Is the Devil in this one??
Lmao, how the he....eh heck do you come up with such great stories! You make hangin around on BJ worthwile! Love you, regards Floris
Yup Peter is an amazing storyteller!! It shines right on through to his music!!:)) and great vocals;)
He is Hank:) I'll be doing the whole thing myself first run through and then assigning all the lines to selected actors and actresses once the script is concrete. I'll cut out my own voice for said parts and then incorporate the voice talent into the production one at a time as I find the right candidates. I haven't filled every roll yet and the script is continually evolving. Soon... I'll send a general letter out to everyone with a list of available parts and provide everyone selected with their scripts and a copy of the demo chapter. when its ready. Still scraping away at Pro-Tools "Maverick hates you" syndrome. I'd downgrade but Apple won't let me... Aparently my brand new iMac requires Maverick to function and isn't on the "Avid approved" list. (Shakes head) Spend so much on new gear and software and can't use half of it. I'll be recording Primal in a copy of Cubase that I won in the 6Pack two years back. Imagine that:)
it's collusion and a conspiracy between hardware and software mfrs. hang in there as they will eventually catch up to you. . .
I like how you put that:) I just tried to send files off to a new publisher this morning and discovered all of the freeware FTP software isn't compatible with Maverick either!!! I had to set up a Dropbox and send him the files that way while begging him not to write me off. LOL N
it's official folks - received my first licensing royalty check: $61.15 (actually, $1.15 of that came from ringtone sales @ 5¢ each. who would'a'thought?)
Congratulations Peter!
Cool!!!:)
"a small step for music-kind; a giant leap for my checking account" LOL. it's a start. what blows my mind are the ringtone sales - they are all from my acoustic instrumentals. just goes to show, hippies still exist!
LOL!:)
Long live hippies!
:) Congratulations Cyndi. I am still waiting for my first check.
Hi Brian, It was Peter that received a check, but thanks for the congrats; perhaps that is a sign of "things to come"?...........I wish!!! :-)
while my name ain't Cyndi, I might consider the change if it helps my royalty flow to grow. and, THX for the 'Gratz!
........okay, then I'll go by Peter.......if that helps me too!.......hahaha!
'share and share alike' as the old axiom goes. what the whatever, if it works who am I to deny destiny?
..........True, true........Hey, I used to know a Peter Corcoran in Jerome; different spelling, but there is one out there :-)
I once dated a girl named 'Destiny' - does that count?
....Doesn't it all count? :-o
beyond my fingers and toes, I tend to lose track :>/
Hahaha! Yes, well, there's that.............:-)
That's Really cool ! congratulations.
Sorry Peter. Blond moment.
great!!!You are so talented!
THX Everybody & BMc - blonde or not, no apology necessary.
Peter, what is even more meaningful than the royalty check, is the fact that your work is being appreciated - not enough, but it's a small reminder! Nicely done.
well said, AA> further plays will generate future royalties. hopefully the provider is encouraged to explore more of my catalog (in this case they collect 60% of licensing fees). and, perhaps one or more of those who visit the website where my track is playing will inquire as to who is the artist and how can they get the music. only time will tell.
Peter, congratulations! Hope it will get you in the plus!
Just got an email that my Crosseyed Miles track, "Love Me/Hate Me- (Decide)" has moved forward & has been given directly to the producers of these shows: "Take" - E!TV Network/Comcast, "Bad Girls Club" - OXYGEN Network, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" - E!TV Network/Comcast, "Road Rules - The Real World" - MTV Network (All Shows), "Total Divas" - E!TV Network, "The Real World", MTV, "Best Ink" - OXYGEN Network (All series), "The Rutkers" - WE Television. This is the last step..if it's chosen by any/all, it will be on future episodes. Asking for big prayers plz!!!
Congrats, man! You got it.
congrats Greg, and good luck !
Thx guys! Trying not to get too jacked up. You two of all ppl know it only matters if they're used!
Prayin'!!!!:)
Congratulations, friend... Wishing you luck.
No congrats yet but ty!
Cool news, GP. It's nice that they keep you updated with what's happening!
My big question is, will I be notified IF it gets used, and on what show/espisode...
Nice, am keeping ,my fingers crossed!
Even if its used doesnt mean we'll be "featured"...or having our name on the screen. THAT is what Im hoping for! :)
I love Secret Agent Man also. I love the suspenseful feel and the mysterious vibe in the arrangement. I love it!
Floris, I'm listening to some of your tracks and I love your work. Great variety of styles and excellent compositions, arranging, and production. This is fantastic work! Rise of Heros is excellent by the way!
Hi Jim, thanks for taking the time to listen to some of my songs. Your feedback is much appreciated!
how in the world doI gt to & update Member Notifictionas?!!! I can't believe I haven't figured out yet. Thanks
To look at notifications click on notifications, it's in the upper right hand corner in the blue under profile to the right of mail...
Then you can click on the left + and see what's going on with people that you have connected with...I'm not sure if that's what you were looking for Penny...It's kind of confusing..I've been on here for years and there are still some things I am not sure about accessing...
So member notifications is the first one at the top and if you click the little + to the left then you can see more things, like what songs made a top ten or who downloaded a song etc....The next one is activities and you can see who has listened to what song...First you have to click on that notifications up in the blue in the upper right hand corner of the page though. Again it can be confusing and it takes a while to understand how to maneuver around here...Hope I haven't made it more confusing...Love your music!
Penny always helpful! I believe the notifications are only of the members you have connected to. As are the updates and such.... And the top ten listings.... Good luck! Many thing to discover.... :)
Have you ever received a really bad review of one of your songs that you happen to like and wonder to yourself "what am I hearing that this person is not?" is there something wrong me as a composer, just fooling myself that I'm any good at all, or was the reviewer being unfair? The first time this happened to me I was really bothered about it for some time, second guessing my song after the negative review, then the very same song received a 5-star rating from several other people and was later picked up by 3 different publishers. In the end you have to try to learn from the negative reviews, and avoid getting too personally connected to your songs, and move on. Not everyone is going to "get you" or appreciate what you're doing. I had to learn this lesson yet again recently. Keep learning, and keep growing, and don't give up!
Great advice, Jim!
Very well said, Jim!!! Great advice:)
Cant imagine someone giving your work a bad review, so it seems your right. One cant get appreciation from everyone. Also be ware, there are some weird members out there only trying to provoke others . Just look the other way. Such a waste of energy imho. Regards floris
Floris, you're being way too kind :-) but I very much appreciate the comments.
I'm in the same boat, Jim! Mr. Lampkin was obviously in a bad mood. I gave him 5 stars - maybe it'll help:)
Thanks so much for the great review of my song Avalon Morning. Much appreciated! Can't wait to hear some of your tracks as well.
Jim, you are very welcome, the song did it on its own. Hope your work get pitched.... Such a waste when such good arrangements an productions are unused. Best regards, floris
Park bench..... I am picturing this tune in the next pixar short film! Great stuff!
Thanks so much! That is the sound I was going for. I love all of the music used in the Pixar films, in addition to the various things that Randy Newman has written. I was going for that vibe with this one.
Hi Jim, Am listening to your song, space age man cave. I must say, you've nailed it! You really captured that sound. I dream of jeanny is a show I watched here in Holland as a kid growing up, just as watching the pink panther movies.... really nice recording as well, did you go into a studio with an orchestra? or did you use samples? Kind regards Floris
Thanks so much Floris, I really appreciate the comments!! I didn't use a real orchestra to record this, but I did a lot of work to capture that sound as closely as I could. I used the best orchestral library and horn section libraries that I could afford, and spent loads of time learning how to use all of the right articulations to capture the horn phrases in the way I wanted. I recorded real guitars and bass, as well as female vocal parts. I also used a single reverb for everything to make it sound like it was recorded in a performance studio like they used to record for the old TV shows. Thanks so much!
Wow, samples. I take my hat of for you. It sounds as if recorded with a real orchestra. Very nice!
Protilius Productions "Will not" be taking on any clients for the months of January and February 2014. I'm currently establishing a new office in Australia and will need to focus my efforts into this transition. Current projects and clients will be completed as agreed upon regardless of the move over seas. Consultation for March is completely permissible in the meantime. Expect studio upgrades and big things for March 2014. I'm going global... N
Wow! All the very best to you Nathaniel, in this major move for you, personally & professionally. Hope all goes well and as planned. Via con Dios!
Here's to a new season my friend! Congratulations!
Best to you and your new endeavors:)!
Best of luck to you in your new move, you crazy person!
Hey Nathaniel, when I first read your news I thought oh no, he's leaving and going so far away, too bad but then of course we live in this internet world so you will still be here I realized ( within seconds! :))....Good luck with the move and look forward to 2014!
No worries guys, they have internet in Australia too:) I'll be available for consultation until March surely and then will be upgrading the studio with a new MacPro and some really great plugins as well. I'm planning on pursuing the Australia film market once I'm there and will continue to provide engineering and demo services for all of my awesome and gifted clients as well. The only thing thats really going to change is, well, everything... But not a whole lot regarding the game plan itself. I'm not going anywhere really:) N
Wow N. ! Such an adventure! Respect! You are doing things I could never (thought about USA but am homesick and would miss my family and friends too much) ... I hope the move brings you great new things and many successes! All the best to you, regards Floris (and of course, we keep in touch! )
G'day mate! Wishing you all the best!
hi Cindy, Thanks For the purchase! Hope you enjoy the music. Kind Regards and a happy new year, Floris
Happy New Year Floris! And I certainly will enjoy your inspirational music!
Hey Joe! ( coincidence that that's a Hendrix song? ...... Joe Hendrickson.... :).....) Thanks for your review of my song circles. Merry x-mas! Regards Floris
THANKY--my friends--cheers--joe---
HEY--JOE--where you going with that guitar in your hand--going down to the river and do a little jam!
:) sounds great! Hendrix and Sprinsteen JAM! :P
I have loved the track" Battlefield" from the start!! It's truly amazing! Congrats on all your top tens!!..... Blessings.. Julia:)
Hi julia, thanks for the kind words! All the best to you too, regards Floris
You are very welcome ! Have a very Merry Christmas!!
And the same to you!
I had a suspicion that was you. Secret agent man. Great play on a theme there. Exceptional work. You've improved over this last year wildly. Keep it up. N
Hey N, Thanks for the compliment! Must be said, that this is the first piece I ever wrote in this style (unique soundtracks) , and I wrote it in sept 2011. (took me about 40 hours, sequencing, learning symphobia). Best of luck on your search for a good EDM vocalist! and have a great thanksgiving! Regards Floris
Also, in this piece, the synthesizer (bass mooger) was made via reason. (along with the beat). Then ran it through some filters, playing with the automation track.
Ada boy.
I just recieved your review of my song! (now I understand) Thanks! Now you know this song was made before my Mastering days :P (bought T-Racks half a year later) - thanks for the advice, I could do a (re-)master. Actually totally forgot about doing one.
You got a really clean sound... A clean sound is way more important when it comes to showcasing complicated work with a lot going on. You could push that a few db but really. Unless you're confident in your mastering. Let it sit. You nailed your part. N
They say you're not supposed to master your own work. Shoot me the wav and I'll do it for credit today. I'd love to have my name on this production. N
Hey, thanks for the great review, I listened to a few of yours as well and if you're not in any feature films yet, the industry has lost its mind.. You're very talented my friend. Take care, Mitch Siegal
Hi Birthe, thanks for the review of my song, secret agent man. I focus on writing music for film, tv and other media. mostly instrumental. you mentioned not to be interested in listening to more of my work for the reason that its all instrumental. I do also write songs. here is a song I Think you may enjoy. Regards Floris http://www.broadjam.com/artists/songs.php?artistID=77316&mediaID=502647 1
Hallo Floris, I listened to your song - lovely and full of feeling. Please try one of my songs - I write the lyrics. Your voice is very good too. I love Amsterdam, Blaricum, Leerdam ... do you compose music to other people's llyrics? Best from Birthe
The vocals on the song back home were done by a friend om mine, Annick. she has a beautiful voice imo. I have never written music to other peoples lyrics before, but may do so one day. Have so many things still planned to do in music. i ll be sure to check some of your work! Regards Floris
hej Floris, I have written lyrics to finished music ( it is usually the other way) it is a wonderful challenge. Have any melodies that need words? I like your music.
"small steps Ellie. . . small steps" (excerpt from the movie 'Contact') found out today that a winery in Virginia has purchased a non-exclusive license for one of my (early) acoustic instrumentals. it will be the soundtrack to an online video campaign. no pre-eminent emmy, no grammy, no champagne or red carpet, just an an honest to God sale for PGO Media Services. and, yes - PGO Media has sold two of the recent music beds along with other services. with all due respect, those brave souls do not have to reveal what it is I do for them; nor, will I ever make claim to owning the process. love them for their trust. respect them for granting me an inside view. and, this is just the beginning; the beginning of new and most interesting adventures. as always, your friend in music - pgo
That's wonderful Peter! It will be a joy for you to hear your music accompany a Virginia winery video! Congratulations, for you certainly deserve the accolades for your wondeful music, as well as sharing your insightful thoughts along the way. Best to you!
Way to go!!! Happy for you!!!..... Blessings as always.... Julia:)
Awesome!!! We are so proud of you. God bless you! I might just buy a bottle of their wine now:)
great news peter! and i love that movie contact. it was a great concept!
Right on Peter! That's great news!
Congratulations Peter. Wishing you great success, which you already have in your catalog.
Cheers! That is great news, congratulations Peter!
Finally! Someone on here landed an actual deal! Congrats, Peter! You so deserve it.
Which one Peter? I'm smack dab in the middle of all the vineyards and wineries here in Charlottesville.
And congratulations --that must make you feel great!!
A little late here...Well Done mate! Brilliant!
Congratulations Peter !
Thank You Cyndi, Julia, "C" The Source, Gordon, Starburst, Brian, Diana, Adam, Jeff, Ian and Marie - your encouragement is priceless. And, it is testimony to who you are as friends and as artists. In response to Jeff, the provider sent notice of a purchase by a 3rd party (the winery's ad agency) and that a cue sheet was sent to them to complete along with notice to my PRO. and, so, business begins. in a few weeks I will receive a small direct deposit thru ASCAP. and, I will spend it - on software or bills or maybe the next songbed. time will be witness. as always, your friend in music - pgo
Havent been around much, but a big (late) congrats from me too! Your music deserves to be heard and put to use!
Hey Peter, Congrats mate
Hey matthew, just listened to your showreal, and also to , to heaven from hell. You have a realy good sound and clearly skills to create it! Nice work! regards Floris
Hi Floris - thankyou - i listened to some of your tracks and you've got a good sound - and like me, you also have a quite diverse set too. Makes it difficult to target audiences i find. Thanks for the compliment, and please accept mine to you too ! Regards Matt
Excellent job on the "Circles" remix.....sounds Great!
Thanks! A bit of good advice goes a long way! Regards Floris
Hi Many are Connected, With the advice given, I have done a remix of my song Circles, using side chain compression to create a more pumping sound (bass and some pads) here's the result, hope you like it! (let me know if you feel it's improved) regards Floris http://www.broadjam.com/artists/songs.php?artistID=77316&mediaID=579933 1
Wish I were a big movie producer, I'd take it!
Hi Floris ""Rise Of Heroes" does have a very powerful, epic feel! Great production and dynamics!
Hey many are connected, thanks for the constructive review of my song circles. i am considering doing a remix, maybe use sidechaining on bass and pads as another member suggested. Could make it a bit more pumping. Regards Floris
Cool, would love to hear it when your done, let us know
Hi everybody! To all our dear friends and Broadjam siblings, We haven't abandoned you. We have been so busy putting together hits. We're knocking on the doors of some of the biggest dogs in the music business. In Addition to "This Is What I want" a song which was no.1 RnB track for over 7 months here, we have "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love", "Are You The One", "Make Me Love You", "Take My Heart", "Don't Cry" as some of the songs they can't get enough of. We'd have loved to share them with you here but for obvious reasons, unfortunately we can't. But you know what? Just watch this space!!!! Wishing you the best, always! D in The Darling!
wishing you continued SUCCESS!
Succes! Congrats and enjoy, regards Floris
Many thanks to you dear brothers, Peter and Bekker.
Many thanks to you Peter and Floris. Your love and support has always been amazing. Maybe one day we should a song together. What do you think?
