Beautiful and inspiring...
G'morning Lyle - Many thanks for the stars on "Dark Patch of Sky"- I so appreciate you taking the time to listen. :)
Hey John - Thanks a million for the stars on "Patch of Sky" - much appreciated! I'll dig into some of your stuff here over the weekend, looks like an absolute treasure chest! -Diane
You're very welcome, Diane. I just listened to "Well After Midnight," which, too, has a beautiful minimalist thing going, but I especially like the three distinct sections that are cohesive, the second section adding interest with more layers. My newest song is "Just Another Weekend," which is what my life was until I got married to Lora when I was 49. It's one of my lilting, bouncy tunes, with a story about all the busy things I did while longing and hoping for love. I found Sofi, the vocalist, on FiveRR. She's from Buenos Aires and she has a delightful folky voice. It's has my best mixing/mastering jobs but I think I'll move the bass closer to center. Most of my songs are autobiographical. I think my best melodies come from what I've experienced because they really express the feeling between and through the words. David Crosby was right that you have to write from what goes on with you if you're going to get down to something that means anything. That was from the CSNY "Four Way Street" concert album. (Pretty good musing if he happened to be stoned!) "Far From Home" sounds much better with Clay Collins on it as does "The Most of Nothing," which would probably win the Dewey Bunnell ("Tin Man") no-one-knows-what-the-hell-you're-t alking-about-stream-of-consciousnes s award. Anyway, come on by. I'd appreciate that! John
Diane, "Dark Patch of Sky" is wonderfully atmospheric and wintry, starting off with the minimalism similar to Harold Budd and ending with what George Winston would do, but definitely your own. I like it! John
Hey Mike, congrats on your selection of "Queen of Hearts" - it's a great tune! Cheers:)
Thanks Diane, one of those tunes that just worked from the start! Mikie.
G'morning Nan, thank you so much for your ears and stars on "If I GO", much appreciated! Have a wonderful Wednesday! -diane
Simply loved the tune!!!!!!!
Hey Vi - Thanks for that (necessarily) brutal review. (One Dark Night) Wish you could review all my tunes. Truly appreciate the suggestions that totally make so much sense to me now that I re-listen. Sometimes it takes another pair of ears.... Onward and Upward! Cheers!
I'm glad the information was well received. Remember.... There is no such thing as a bad way to self express. Just better ways to present that. Good luck, creator bless. Vi
Thanks Diane for the stars on "Firefly Dance". I always appreciate listeners taking the time to comment. By the way, I relate really well to your wonderful piano playing! - Kevin
Hey Constantinos - Heard your track "No Goodbyes" on the top 10 list, wow it's rare to hear such a combination of deeply beautiful artistry and technical perfection, can't tell you how much I enjoyed the listening experience. Joyful ! Thanks for the music ! -diane
G'morning Frank, big thank you for all the stars and reviews, appreciate you taking the time to really listen and your generous and thoughtful comments.-Cheers! diane
Steve thanks for the generous review of "And What Now" - surprising how a little encouragement can keep us going, and I appreciate it. :)
You are welcome. You are talented. So if it makes your day so be it!
Hey there Pat, a million thanks for your very thoughtful review of "Sounds Like Love" - I did it a while ago, I think I was just using the stock Halion Yamaha piano, it's been pretty reliable over the years. Your comments really made me smile, I mean that's why we do this right? - to make an impact, that's the magic I think. Thank you again!
You are certainly welcome Diane! I have grown to love Broadjam and reviewing other's songs! Taking tips from others has really helped my craft! "Sounds like Love" will be picked up by someone I am sure! I'll be listening to you more as time goes by!! Be sure to notify me if something big happens because it will! Catnip
Heya Steve, thank you for the very generous review of "Dream Colours 3" - I'm thinking of pitching it for the intimate piano current listing along with a few others in my stack. It's clean and simple, which could be useful for them. Listened to some of your tracks from "Love is Love" - wow, pristine mixes and great writing, guitar work, vocals, etc. Your voice has something of a John Denver vibe, beautiful! --wishing you much-continued success...
Thank you for the compliments. I believe u r in Ontario as well! I have to say all the music and vocal work you here is not me. I write music but performance of it is something no one should hear!
Thank you for the 5 star rating on "Best Day". Appreciate it!
Hey Yuri, thanks for the amazing review on "You are Power". I always thought something was off but couldn't spot it -- I think you nailed it. I'll work on making those changes, I sooooooo appreciate your technical expertise and a million thanks for it because sometimes extra ears are so needed! Cheers ! -diane
Thanks for your review of "Dark Momentum". I get a lot of insight from your thoughtful feedback. Truly appreciate it. I've been listening to your work while writing this. You've lullabyed me into a very pleasant and soothing spell. Have a great day and thanks again. Yuri
Hiya Frank, thanks for the stars on "Morning Subway" - not my usual kind of piece, and I like your optimism about placement ideas! Cheers!
Hey Art & Margie, thanks for the endorsement - means a lot! Cheers!
Hi Diane, Thanks for the review of "Moods of Electra". I appreciate the time you spent listening and providing meaningful and helpful comments. Your observation elate to category is good one, and I tend to agree with you. I'll update that. Thanks again for the positive and helpful review! Be and stay well, Frank
Thanks Diane for kind words on "Tin Pan Alley". Appreciate it.
Cheers Diane, great job on Baby's Breath, you understate it in your description...IMO it's more than a pretty lullabye by a mile! It uses minor chords in subtle ways that make it very special for sure... Kudos, Warren
Thank you so very much for the kind words and ears, Warren, I had fun with these little tunes!
Great Review from you for my The Promise (Orchestra)! You took the retime to deliver a lovely review. Thanks Diane!
My pleasure Jim, it's an absolutely stellar track! Congrats!
Thanks a lot Diane for the kind reviews of Cold Lonely House and Let Me Know. I appreciate your taking the time very much.
Hi Diane, Many thanks for your kind review of The Drawing Room (The Song), it is very much appreciated. This was originally an instrumental piece but this version is entirely down to Cyndi Corkran approaching me out of the blue suggesting that a vocal might work, and that she had the whole thing figured out!! At the time I was flattered but not convinced it would work but happy to give it a try. Thankfully, it does work. This started a great trans-Atlantic relationship and we have now collaborated on a couple of projects and a third with a third is work in progress. I have had a quick trip through some of your songs and I love the variation and sheer quality. Goodluck with your projects, Thanks again, Bob
Hey Bob - You know I thought I recognized that track, but was so focused on the vocals I didn't quite catch it! It's a beautiful track, you could probably do many different versions, I hope it attracts an awesome placement for you, and keep up the good work! And thanks for the ears, I'm hoping for some action this year as things seem to be opening up again nicely. Cheers :)
Many thanks Diane
Hey Frank, thank you so much for the stars on "Pop Duo" and taking the time to listen, much appreciated !
Super congrats on your selection of "Oh One" - I would have selected it too! Wowwowowowoo !!!!!!!!!!!!!! -diane
Thank you so much. I'm pretty happy about it myself. You're very kind to give me such nice comments.... you should pat yourself on the back.
Hi Diane, Thanks so much for the 5 Star rating of my song "The Blend"! I'm so glad you liked it!! I appreciate you taking the time to listen and rate it!! Be well, Frank
Most welcome Frank, a joy to listen. :)
Stephen Sutton - Absolutely carried away by your "Oh One" I saw on the under-consids list. wow just beautiful. Reminded me quite a lot of the feel of Eric Whitacre's works that are vocals, but yours "sing" in a totally unique, nurturing, and beautiful way - gorgeous! -diane
thanks for you kind words. I am a fan of yours now.... we have some musical similarities in the way we use repetitive (slightly static) musical elements as a background to more agile melodies. A mutual musical admiration society!
Diane, Thank you for your in-depth review of Children Cry, Lament. Again, you are a very good listener, and I respect your opinions, and the time that you commit to your reviews. Norb
You are most welcome Norb, it was a pleasure to listen! -diane
Frank, Thanks for the listen, comments and 5's for "Polka Dot Blue". Might be a little SD influence in it... Bill
The Blend - Great tune, understated in all the right ways, and solid in all the right places too, including those lovely vocals in the mix, cool arrangement ! -diane
Thanks so much Diane! I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment!! Frank
Hey Daniel - Listened to "Like a Star" - wonderful creation from the "under considers" list - fingers crossed, but it's a great tune notwithstanding! -diane
Diane, Thanks so much for your more than kind words. Actualy, a number of my songs are "Under Consideration" so until I receive a contract I'm not so excited. In fact, one of my songs, You Need a Wife, was chosen to be in a Christmas movie, Letters at Christmas, but I don't believe the movie was released. I'm hoping it will be released next year since it costs 3 million $ to make. Have you had any luck on Broadjam or on other sites? I'm only on Broadjam. I was on Spotify and a few others but nothing materialized. I think I'll just stay with Broadjam. Anyway, let's stay in touch. Maybe a group of us could meet for a beer and we can drown our troubles together. Dan
Hey Dan - I know what you mean about "under consideration" - crossing the fingers - you do that for too long and your fingers start to go kind of numb, eh? But if you do it for the joy of creation, well it's worth it anyway just for that. I hope the Christmas movie ends up getting released. I think a lot of stuff got put on hold from the last crazy period we've all had to endure. And hopefully things are opening up again. I'm on BJ and also Spotify (where I am regularly reminded how few listeners ever come) but you know, you keep going anyways. I started my licensing "career" with a kind of a bang, made good money with a couple good placements, and then phhhht nada - oh well, I still keep pitching and I don't really expect placements but it sure would be nice. I think that's why I like posting stuff here on BJ because you get the feeling that at least some people are listening, and even enjoying. And there's sooo much good music here. Well, keep it up friend, because your stuff is amazing. Truly. - diane
