You're very welcome, Diane. I just listened to "Well After Midnight," which, too, has a beautiful minimalist thing going, but I especially like the three distinct sections that are cohesive, the second section adding interest with more layers. My newest song is "Just Another Weekend," which is what my life was until I got married to Lora when I was 49. It's one of my lilting, bouncy tunes, with a story about all the busy things I did while longing and hoping for love. I found Sofi, the vocalist, on FiveRR. She's from Buenos Aires and she has a delightful folky voice. It's has my best mixing/mastering jobs but I think I'll move the bass closer to center. Most of my songs are autobiographical. I think my best melodies come from what I've experienced because they really express the feeling between and through the words. David Crosby was right that you have to write from what goes on with you if you're going to get down to something that means anything. That was from the CSNY "Four Way Street" concert album. (Pretty good musing if he happened to be stoned!) "Far From Home" sounds much better with Clay Collins on it as does "The Most of Nothing," which would probably win the Dewey Bunnell ("Tin Man") no-one-knows-what-the-hell-you're-t alking-about-stream-of-consciousnes s award. Anyway, come on by. I'd appreciate that! John

Diane, "Dark Patch of Sky" is wonderfully atmospheric and wintry, starting off with the minimalism similar to Harold Budd and ending with what George Winston would do, but definitely your own. I like it! John

I'm glad the information was well received. Remember.... There is no such thing as a bad way to self express. Just better ways to present that. Good luck, creator bless.

Hey there Pat, a million thanks for your very thoughtful review of "Sounds Like Love" - I did it a while ago, I think I was just using the stock Halion Yamaha piano, it's been pretty reliable over the years. Your comments really made me smile, I mean that's why we do this right? - to make an impact, that's the magic I think. Thank you again!

Heya Steve, thank you for the very generous review of "Dream Colours 3" - I'm thinking of pitching it for the intimate piano current listing along with a few others in my stack. It's clean and simple, which could be useful for them. Listened to some of your tracks from "Love is Love" - wow, pristine mixes and great writing, guitar work, vocals, etc. Your voice has something of a John Denver vibe, beautiful! --wishing you much-continued success...

Cheers Diane, great job on Baby's Breath, you understate it in your description...IMO it's more than a pretty lullabye by a mile! It uses minor chords in subtle ways that make it very special for sure...

Hi Diane,

Many thanks for your kind review of The Drawing Room (The Song), it is very much appreciated. This was originally an instrumental piece but this version is entirely down to Cyndi Corkran approaching me out of the blue suggesting that a vocal might work, and that she had the whole thing figured out!! At the time I was flattered but not convinced it would work but happy to give it a try. Thankfully, it does work. This started a great trans-Atlantic relationship and we have now collaborated on a couple of projects and a third with a third is work in progress.

I have had a quick trip through some of your songs and I love the variation and sheer quality. Goodluck with your projects,

Thanks again,
Bob

Hey Bob - You know I thought I recognized that track, but was so focused on the vocals I didn't quite catch it! It's a beautiful track, you could probably do many different versions, I hope it attracts an awesome placement
for you, and keep up the good work! And thanks for the ears, I'm hoping for some action this year as things
seem to be opening up again nicely. Cheers :)

Stephen Sutton - Absolutely carried away by your "Oh One" I saw on the under-consids list. wow just beautiful. Reminded me quite a lot of the feel of
Eric Whitacre's works that are vocals, but yours "sing" in a totally unique, nurturing, and beautiful way - gorgeous! -diane

thanks for you kind words. I am a fan of yours now.... we have some musical similarities in the way we use repetitive (slightly static) musical elements as a background to more agile melodies.

A mutual musical admiration society!

Diane,
Thanks so much for your more than kind words. Actualy, a number of my songs are "Under Consideration" so until I receive a contract I'm not so excited. In fact, one of my songs, You Need a Wife, was chosen to be in a Christmas movie, Letters at Christmas, but I don't believe the movie was released. I'm hoping it will be released next year since it costs 3 million $ to make. Have you had any luck on Broadjam or on other sites? I'm only on Broadjam. I was on Spotify and a few others but nothing materialized. I think I'll just stay with Broadjam. Anyway, let's stay in touch. Maybe a group of us could meet for a beer and we can drown our troubles together.

Hey Dan - I know what you mean about "under consideration" - crossing the fingers - you do that for too long and your fingers start to go kind of numb, eh? But if you do it for the joy of creation, well it's worth it anyway just for that. I hope the Christmas movie ends up getting released. I think a lot of stuff got put on hold from the last crazy period we've all had to endure. And hopefully things are opening up again. I'm on BJ and also Spotify (where I am regularly reminded how few listeners ever come) but you know, you keep going anyways. I started my licensing "career" with a kind of a bang, made good money with a couple good placements, and then phhhht nada - oh well, I still keep pitching and I don't really expect placements but it sure would be nice. I think that's why I like posting stuff here on BJ because you get the feeling that at least some people are listening, and even enjoying. And there's sooo much good music here. Well, keep it up friend, because your stuff is amazing. Truly. - diane
