Had to check out some more of your tunes. Nice writing! Now, to check out Carousel...
Hi Jamey! Thank you for your kind comments! I'm digging your songs too and loving your vocals! Me thinks I've got a long ways to go before I get anywhere near your skills though!! Keep up the good work, hope to see your songs in the charts soon!
Thanks for your review of Under the Satellites. I'm glad you liked it! I listened to your songs and really liked all three of them. Listening to the album tracks on bandcamp. Did you really do this on a 4 track? Impressive.
Well we only had 4 inputs at a time! Pretty ridiculous! Thanks for giving us a listen. Stay in touch!
Contact is a great tune!
Thank you!
agreed.
Jamey, Thank you for your thorough review of my song, "fractured." I'm flattered that you've listened that closely to it. I have found the review extremely useful and will definitely apply changes to future compositions. By the way, I've heard music in the past by Carousel and I'm very impressed. You guys remind me a lot of the band Sponge, which is another favorite of mine. Thanks again for your time and consideration. Al.
Alfred, I'm glad you found my review useful. I enjoyed Fractured. I'm surprised you've heard Carousel's music. I'm glad you liked it!
thanx Jamey for review of So Alone Tonight,,,you are spot on about the playing on it...this was a hire out 4 years ago, and i picked the singer for his differently cool voice, but you are right about the metronome, and yes i noticed it in the finished product...it will be reworked, it's a keeper, but i should probably take it off the b'jam list for the reasons you mention. best of luck to you and yours. warren hein
Warren, I've had similar things happen on some of my songs on Bjam. For instance, I know that my drum patterns aren't the best because I'm not a drummer and I don't want to spend a lot of creative time programming drums, but I still hear about it in reviews of my songs. Keep up the good work.
thanx Jamey, my producer has killer programs, and he works for $25 an hour, not sure what you're using, as i JUST DON'T, the creative thing for sure, i get it. feel free to email me if you want to contact him, but he's having his gaul bladder removed in a week or so, but will be back in the saddle soon--heinsite@sbcglobal.net--i have no secrets, just letting you know i can send you a couple he's produced for me of about 40. cheers, warren
I appreciate that Warren. Do you have any examples of his work I could listen to?
i really like your songs: 'thick as thieves' and especially 'DNA'. i think they are good enough to try with your band 'Carousel. very nice!
Thanks Michael. I really appreciate the feedback!
thanks for the nice review of 'tucson-day'. i am glad that you enjoyed it. the song was inspired by that terrible shooting tragedy in Tucson,Az.
I really enjoyed the approach on the guitar on your song.
Appreciate the review of my song "Feminine Devine". The comments are always appreciated. Enjoyed listening to some of your stuff too. Nice sound. Mike
Thanks Mike for listening to my stuff. I enjoyed the interesting genre blend of Feminine Devine.
Just reviewed One Day and really liked it. Listening to Nevermore. . .definitely impressed.
Thank you! i'm really glad you liked it
Thank you for your review and kind words on my song Wrecking Ball. I'm listening to "That Ain't Right" right now. I'm really digging your guitar playing, loving the chord phrasing.
Hi Jamey - I loved it. I listened to quite a bit of psychedelic rock in my youth and your piece is timeless. Thanks for your kind words as well! Nils
Thanks for your review of Secrets (Same as Murder). Always nice to hear some kind words about my art! I'm listening to Shine right now. I'm really digging your sense of melody!
Hey Lostfollicles! You gave us a GREAT review on our song "Everything" a couple of years ago so we hope you might enjoy the video below. Thanks, Cairo Fred http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dacSDI8Bti0 1
Thanks for your review of Santa Rosa. You're right about it being a short song. I kind of envisioned this one as a b side for my band because of its length.
Thanks for taking the time to review my song Jamey, I really appreciate the input. Mark
Hey Mark, I definitely found your song to be unique, which is saying a lot when it seems like a lot of artists on here seem to try too hard to sound like someone else.
Thanks again for the compliment, Jamey :)
Hi Jamie, thanks for taking time out of your day to review "How Blue" :D.
Jamey, God Bless Santa Rosa! Any Friend of Santa Rosa is a Friend of Mine..
Thanks Nick!
I've been given a second song of yours by the random generator and enjoyed it as much as the first! We're in Seattle and would love to catch a Carousel show--but the Facebook, Myspace and you main page (which just didn't even work) have no tour dates listed. Any local shows coming up?
Thanks for the interest and kind words! We are actually working on recording our album right now, so we decided to stop doing shows to focus on getting it finished. At the moment we don't have anything booked. I'm hoping we can book at least a show or two sometime in the fall. I will definitely let you know.
Awesome, please do!
Is Attack With Care playing any shows in Seattle in the near future?
Hi Roy, Just wanted to say thanks for your review of my song Secrets (Same as Murder). You were absolutely right about the drum programming being a weak part of the song arrangement. I am using Broadjam to get some feedback on my demos, most all of which my band ends up fleshing out. Frankly, programming drums is my least favorite thing to do when I'm writing and recording! I like to program the bare bones of the song and move on. I'm not a drummer, so I let my drummer handle that when it comes to recording definitive album versions of songs. I do have one question. I'm not sure if you recall the song (I'm sure you review a lot of music!) but you also mentioned the hook didn't grab you. From Broadjam comments it seems I have a tendency to leave vocals too low in mixes. Did you enjoy the vocal melody or do you think that needs some work as well? Thanks for your insight into the song. Also, I'm enjoying Broadjam quite a lot, so thanks for that too! Jamey
Jamey, Thanks for your note. I think we all have a tendency to mix our own vocals lower in the mix. Just about everyone I know has never been satisfied with their own vocal. Try this - Ask a engineer friend to mix the song for you without you in the room. Ask them to do what they think is right and I think you will hear a very satisfactory result.....Regarding the drum programming. Listen to Zupe & Nichols album Speechless posted here on Broadjam. This is some of the best drum programming I have ever heard. Zupe is an incredible player and programmer and a decent guy as well...The hook may not have jumped out because of the vocals being so far back. I would be happy to listen again after a remix.....Best of luck and keep at it as your talent is obvious.....Roy
Thanks for all of the insight Roy. I really appreciate it. It's nice to get some unbiased constructive criticism. I'll take a listen to Zupe and see if I can glean some ideas. Jamey
Cool track tho...
Thank you for your honest review of my music! This thing called music is so subjective, I appreciate you telling me what you thought! Good luck to you. Let's stay connected.
Yeah, these reviews aren't the easiest thing in the world. Let's face it, as musicians we all have some pretty unique tastes! I think the art of making music and the art of writing constructive reviews can be two different things. Good luck to you too!
WOW your pretty critical...and judgmental... I would offer you another song of mine...but REALLY???? I like being repetitive. It seems to be part of my pattern in life! To most ears its not a bad thing...and to some...(LIKE U) it don't matter!!!! So here you go for repetitive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymKLymvwD2U 1 Then go check out one of my other Repetitive Songs...Just cuz of peeps like you I made a 6 line song and repeated it over and over...called .... "CumInUrJeans" just to prove how its done! But if you Dare not to care...my other songs are great...and not so like that....Purple Spring Flowers for vocals...or like "CupATease" but hey that might be to much for you???? http://www.magix.info/us/boom-boom.audio.527401.htm 2 other public reviews...thank god there not public here.... I appologize for you pissing me off with your lame review! But I challenge you to listen to another...but if not whatever...you didn't care in the first place and its a waste of your ears for me to care! Later Dude!!!! You don't even know me...yet whipped me out!!! WOW! Lori :( I will still wish you well! :) "Boom Boom"
http://www.broadjam.com/browse/songs/top10/?l0=g&l1=248 1 There will always be someone out there that don't like yah music...yet not even give opportunity to listen? But hey...just to show you I seem to rate? I have only been doing music for 9 months now...and never before ever mixed or recorded...not even sang??? REALLY! I was only a fan the first year! GO FIGURE??? I'm going to bed now...hoping to sleep after this...wow...I just am really disturbed by your review...Public That! Lori
Lori, I'm sorry you found my review so disturbing, but I'm really glad that you seem to have so much passion for what you are doing after such a short time. I'm not a review critic (thank god!) I'm just a musician with my own tastes. One thing I've learned is that if your art can generate a response from people, then you are doing something right. Not everyone is going to like what you do, because everyone has their own unique tastes. The important thing is to find the people that DO like it. Everything has its market. You're right to say that my opinion doesn't matter, at least no more than anyone else's. If you believe in what you're doing, that is the most important thing. The only other piece of advice I could give is to not let the negative reviews get you down. The more success you have, the more response, both positive and negative, you're going to get. Just the nature of the beast! Don't waste your energy on people like me who aren't your target anyway. Good luck and keep fighting. Jamey
It is people like you :) that makes me want to take time to open your mind??? I truly didn't mean to be so harsh either. I thrive on both energy's, positive and negative. The negative I need to understand and want the negative to become positive when reviewing. There is a heart on the other side! We all are here to be heard and helped, not judged by one song if have many? Maybe a strike 3 your out zone is understandable? But shit you gonged me with out even a second chance to grab your heart? I can deal with bad critic but rejection is worse? Does that make sense? LOL Sorry for my attitude my heart is better but still challenges your ears to another listen? Lori Your opinion could of been more valued with better attitude as well? Think about what I am saying please and thank you! :)
hey thanks for the kind words on "Meet Me After Dark"! All the best to you.....
Good song! Keep it up!
Thanks for the review of my song "Wrecking Ball." I appreciate the constructive feedback on mixing and eq. BTW, I didn't use a synth on the track. I actually ran the bass through a distortion effect. The sound you hear in the beginning is the hum of the bass through the distortion effect before it starts playing. I really like your track "I Wonder Why." Love the uniqueness of your voice, and really dig the German accent! Jamey
Thanks for your comment. The distorted bass is cool, I thought its a synth but now it makes sense. Thanks for your words about "I wonder why", but if you think I have a german accent than you should listen to my german (joke)... I wish you the best
Wrecking Ball is a great tune. Great harmonies - kind of strung out vibe. ..reminds me of Ride
Oh, like the lyrics, too. The whole song is 6 lines! That's really cool.
Thanks Colin. I really dig your songs. For some reason, although you don't really sound that much like them, I get a similar feeling from your songs that I get from some James tunes. I don't know if you like them or not, but I'm a big fan of theirs. Keep up the good work!
+1 Wrecking Ball is a great production I hope we ll hear some more in the future:)
Thanks Sheever!
thanks for the review, I like wrecking ball, especially the keys. The Sugar pups
thanks for listening. You guys have some talent. By the way, sorry I didn't give you a complete review. I usually like to fill out the comments section as I'm listening, and I accidentally hit submit before I completed the rest of the form. Good song.
Thanks Jamey for reviewing my song "Castles in the Sand." You made a lot of good points. Best of luck with your music too!
