Mighty fine, mighty fine, and a great, big, Bluegrass howdy, one and all. We are SpareTime Bluegrass from (mostly) Madison, Wisconsin.

We are (pictured above, l/r) Dale Ward, mandolin, fiddle, joyful abandon and vocals, Jim Robarts on banjo, "je ne sais quoi" and vocals, Scott R. Shank on resonator guitar, mandolin, producing our CDs, writing this and vocals, Bobby Batyko on guitar, ukulele, planning and heavy lifting and vocals, and Lorie Docken on upright bass and quiet inscrutability.

And we are, in fact, spare time -- five people with day jobs (Well, except Jim, who's now retired and whose job now involves mostly grandchild wrangling and home improvement).

SPARETIME SNAGS A "MAMA". May 12, 2007 - the Band is unreasonably proud to pick up the 2007 Madison Area Music Award ("MAMA") for "Best Country/Bluegrass Album" for "Bluegrass Matinee". The Band sends its heartfelt thanks to all the folks who voted for us.
