Story Behind The Song
This song is inspired by two simultaneous stories. One- an actual visit from a ladybug an afternoon on a sunny porch, and it seemed that the bug lingered for a long time. Two- a love interest whose last name was "Layde" who was dressed all in blue on the first date, and red and black in the second and sadly only lasted for those two dates.
Song Description
This is a song about a relationship, using the metaphor of a visit from a ladybug to tell the story of the brief encounter with the love interest. The love interest had the last name "Layde" and was wearing all blue upon the first date, and red and black on the second date (reminiscent of a ladybug's colors).

Lyrics
A blue ladybug flew onto my hand today
Tarried on me found safe place to land and then stayed
It circled scuttled and stopped to check things out
It paused to steal a breath and welcome took a rest, hung around
Adorned prominently in earthy cobalt hue
Commingled with an iridescent bird's egg shell blue
Her visage chiseled by a sculptor's stroke on clay
With skin as taut and soft as a living cashmere flesh silk brocade
Oh my blue ladybug from the sunny other day
I knew she would make me blue when she turned and flew away
That's two more broken hearts today
Then she came back face all rubicund
Swathed in red and black a living apparition of that bug
Her thin diaphanous frame held on close to mine
My bellows scared her off it was her timid heart's time to fly
Oh my blue ladybug from the sunny other day
I knew she would make me blue when she turned and flew away
That's two more broken hearts today
