Sandbar Surfin

Story Behind The Song

Brian said; "We had been invited on our first sandbar trip. We didn't know what to expect but had heard a lot of cool things about them. We loaded up the boat with coolers and food and began the journey out there. We got to our destination, and it was so cool. Boats everywhere. Tide was down and we just walked the boat up to a little sand dune. People partying everywhere. Then the captain said let's go check out some other sandbars...let's go surfin' he said. That was it for me...Sandbar Surfin' was born."

Song Description

How Sandbar Surfin' Came About; Brian wrote this to Harriet It's a pretty long story on how this song came to be a song. I'll put in the highlights in the bullets below. We had been invited on our first sandbar trip. We didn't know what to expect but had heard a lot of cool things about them. We loaded up the boat with coolers and food and began the journey out there. The captain was drivin' pretty fast through the flats and the salt water was spraying in our face. We got to our destination, and it was so cool. Boats everywhere. Tide was down and we just walked the boat up to a little sand dune People partying everywhere. Just a neat experience Then the captain said let's go check out some other sandbars...let's go surfin' he said. That was it for me...Sandbar Surfin' was born. We went to other places and had a great time of it that day As time went on and we did more sandbar experiences, it just added to the song to where I had 5 verses, I think. That's where you, Harriet, come in...we sat in your camper, pre-pandemic, and started carving up the song, rearranging lyrics, placing melody where it needed to be placed, etc. And you know me, I don't like to rush into the studio - I like to play with the song, feel it out, get my tempo right, make sure the words make sense and flow, etc. About a year, year and a half later, it went to the studio. I call them my swampers...the Atlanta Swampers. Kind of like the Muscle Shoals Swampers out of Sheffield, Alabama Now Sandbar Surfin' is getting lots of air play. We are being played in Texas, England, on numerous Trop Rock Internet Radio Stations and the list goes on Has been in the Top 10 Chars on Radio A1A's Trop 40 now for 5 weeks and has been in the #1 Spot twice where it now currently sits.

Lyrics

Sandbar Surfin'

It's another beautiful day here on the island
The sun is shining and the water looks so inviting
Let's call our friends this day is getting hotter
We're gonna spend our day playing in the water

Sandbar Surfin....gonna find us a little spot
Sandbar Surfin...to the places we go a lot
Just float in that water
Drinking up to our knees
We're Sandbar Surfin...around the Florida Keys

Just me and my baby and some friends
Coolers full were ready for the weekend
Feel the ocean spray we're on our way
We're heading out for a sandbar surfin day

Sandbar Surfin....gonna find us a little spot
Sandbar Surfin...to the places we go a lot
Just float in that water
Drinking up to our knees
We're Sandbar Surfin...around the Florida Keys

Sandbar Surfin...headin' to Marvin's Key
Sandbar Surfin..Down to Boca Grande
We'll float in that water
Maybe see a manatee
We're Sandbar Surfin around the Florida Keys
Just Sandbar Surfin around the Florida Keys
