Story Behind The Song
This song literally burst out of me a few weeks after I saw the film, "Crazy Heart" with Jeff Bridges. I didn't realize how much that movie affected me until I started writing this song, and its incredibly lonely but somehow relatable character came to life in the lyrics...
Song Description
Inspired in part by the film, "Crazy Heart," this song is really about thinking you want one thing, then realizing you wanted something else all along...

Lyrics
HOME - words and music by Suzanne Vick © 2010
Lines are learned / make-up's on
But in my head / I'm so far gone
Gone from this place, this life of lies
Gone from the lights and the strained goodbyes
Sixteen years I've been on the road
New York, LA, I just don't know
Where I am anymore
These hotels are all I've known, and I am
Trying / to come to terms with
The fact that I gave it all to have this life
And I would give it all away tonight
If I could go home
I think about a normal life
A house, a lawn, a lovely wife
A couple of kids, maybe a dog
We'd throw the Frisbee and we'd kick the ball
Holidays, birthdays, they don't live here
The show must go on, you must persevere
My agent calls to say "Kid, have a good show"
Who I'd be without this, God only knows
And I am
Longing and I am / empty inside
I gave it all to have this life
I'd give it all away tonight
If I could go home
Lights are up / house is full
I take a breath / I know just what to do
I've played this role a thousand times before
I sing my songs, I am the star that they adore
And though I'm
Smiling inside I'm / dying
Trapped in a life I thought I'd love
I would give it all up
If I could go home
I would give it all up
If I could go home....
