Story Behind The Song
The line "I'll sure miss me when I'm gone" has been with me for at least a decade. It took a while for my right brain to write it. The theme is one of self absorption. In the day and age of phone/computer zombies, it could not be more timely. Yet the theme is universal and timeless and could have been written in the days of Hank or Johnny.
Song Description
This is one of those that came fast and from left field. It was 3:30AM when the lyrics and music started pouring out. I wrote what I could get down, then went to bed. At 4:30AM I was back up and headed downstairs to the studio to write down a few more lines. I completed the arrangement and rewrites the next day in about an hour.

Lyrics
How Could I Live Without Me
What would I do without me - I 'm always on my side
My constant companion when I'm alone
All of my affection for me has only grown
What would I do with out me - Who would heal me when in pain
Who could I believe in, how could I stay sane
Who'll save me from my saviors, who'll free me from my chains
How could I live without me - I may as just well die
Lookin' for some answers on the sunny side
Dreamin' 'bout a better place for me, myself, and I
What would I do without me - I'll sure miss me when I'm gone
But there'll be no regrettin' when it's time to travel on
'Cause all my bets are even and all my deals are done
How could I live without me - Just the thought, it makes me cry
Still I take some chances risking my own hide
Fightin' for a better way that I can abide
How could I live with out me - Who'd be left to carry on
I just keep on living though someday I'll be gone
Hopin' heaven's saved some love for me and number one
Hopin' heaven's saved some love
'Cause I'll sure miss me when I'm gone
