Story Behind The Song
I wrote this piece when I was 23. I am 69 in 2025. I have recorded it before as an instrumental. This is the first time I have recorded it with its intended vocal. I had to drastically change the key from a melody placed in the tenor range to one placed in my baritone range. It Was a challenging transformation, but one that could make me happy, even on a rainy day!

Lyrics
After The Rain
How am I to be happy
When the sky turns from azure blue to grey
I would wish the clouds away
And trade the rain for a brighter day
How am I to do anything
The birds won't sing
And I can't feel the joy
Their songs would bring
Often rain has sung to me unanswered
For they're such sad words
Who am I to say it's wrong
To sing a song written in a pen of grey
When through the muse play soothes away
The sadness from my heart
How am I to be happy
When the sky sheds it's tears on everything
I just keep remembering that the clear days
They Seem to always follow bad
And what would happy be without sad
