The Lottery

Story Behind The Song

Thinking about winning the lottery is a secret obsession, but one day I sat down and really thought about it and it became apparent that I really don't need to win the lottery to get what is most important, if I could trade in all my winnings for time with my husband that would be the most winning ticket.

Song Description

Love is more important than anything else, and money can't buy you more time with the ones that you love. So although winning the lottery may seem like a ticket to easy street at the end of the day it doesn't buy you time. All the luxuries of life can be nice but often they prevent you from remembering what is truly the most important thing that you have, time and no amount of money can buy you more time.

I like to dream about the day the day I win the lottery
And find myself to be one wealthy bitch
Come on now seriously? I don't really need money
Cuz what would I ever do with it

I'd probably take a cruise buy myself some fancy shoes
But then I'd be a little bit confused
O' course I'd buy a house or two, trade in my old Subaru
But money don't buy me more time with you

You love me for my quirky ways, you tolerate my bitchy days
And everybody knows that you're a saint
So I would surely trade whatever our Quick Pick paid
Long as we can make the rent

We may not have a fancy car, might live in a trailer park
And bills I'm sure we'll have a few
But I think that we're livin' large, nothing beats a love like ours
I just want to spend more time with you

So you can keep your lotto wins, that new Mercedes Benz
Even the house with a view
I got all that I need, happy as I can be
Just to spend more time with you

We may not have a fancy car, we might live in a trailer park
And bills I'm sure we'll have a few
But honey we're livin' large, nothing beats a love like ours
I just want to spend more time with you

Baby spend some more time with you.
