I Can't Complain

Story Behind The Song

This song took a long time to write! The piano riff and the chorus were written in Summer 2008 but the verses weren't written until December. To put it simply the song is about guys who say they like you but turn out be idiots! The title is quite ironic because the song is one huge rant. I actually wrote the verses in school and that's where the theme of the song came about. I got the melody for the verses when I randomly sang "Hey Mr Monobrow, why have you put me down" to my friends in school and I decided to use it as the basis for the song. Obviously, I changed the first line as the working lyric was a bit cringey! The song has blues influences but still has that 60's type feel to it. This is my favourite song I've written so far. I recorded the demo for it on Christmas Eve 2008. I re-recorded the demo for this song in June 2009 for a competition and I changed the structure, added more harmony layers and added a guitar solo.
