Story Behind The Song

My Mum belonged to the last generation of mothers in western society who were mostly full-time mums. She gave her all to her family and was always its heart. Her gentle way was to make a huge impression on me in the long run. Perhaps I'm biased, but I always thought my Mum embodied many of the qualities mothers are renowned for the world over. So, while primarily about my own mother, this song also reflects on the wonderful gift of motherhood.

Song Description

While some have interpreted this as simply a love song, I wrote it in memory of my own gentle mum, acknowledging the precious gift she was to me. Many have told me that it brings back precious memories of their own mothers. Interpreted more broadly, the song speaks of the wonderful gift that motherhood is to us all.
