Story Behind The Song

This track that Pocket came up with was simply the best I had heard out of the House of Vibe camp. I had to write to it. It had this pimp sound with the bass but something about it struck me as being extremely versatile as well. The first lyrics that came to mind were what I stuck with. The hook reminded me of something I'd write for Jill Scott. However it felt very 'alive' to me. The music reminds me of maybe some Jazz by Grover Washington. I just adore the horns in this song and the base line. I got real creative and proclaimed who I am in the bridge and told them "the High Priest of Universe Soul is here yeah, yeah!!!" It is sort of Prince-like to me. Hell I'm royalty too as far as I'm concerned. The best part of the song for me is the intro though. As you will hear I have more than enough fun playing with myself when I overdub my voice. Pro-Tools is a motherf---er ain't it. The outro spawned my other song entitled "The Get Down". It has a Marvin Gaye feel which I feel is appropriate because he is who I felt when I recorded the intro to the song. I was extremely satisfied with the song as a whole because it is cool and very different from the current sound in R&B music. It is the epitome of what I call "Universe Soul".

Song Description

This song is a beautiful declaration of sensual freedom and love between a man and woman. They could either be a married couple or the subjects of a hopeful one night stand. Nevertheless we all have been smacked upside the head many times over someone we just had to make love to on a very special night. This song declares the sacredness of joining together. It boldly declares that the sister doesn't know it yet but she is getting with her man. He says it with such conviction that he is stating that their union is ordained by supernatural law. Yes they are Soulmates. It is a true story for me.
