Take That

Story Behind The Song

This is the story of me, the underdog. The drummer in the band that always goes unnoticed or is overshadowed by guitar players. The guy at the bar who is too shy to actually talk to the pretty girls, doesn't have the big hunky body that they all want. But then I play the band card and maybe it actually will work....nope. Still nothing.

Song Description

This story is about a guy who is just an average joe. He tries to win the affection of beautiful women, but to no avail. He finally thinks it will work if he tells them he's in a band, but no, they still don't like him.

Lyrics

Hey what's your name girl
I got something to say girl
If you leave without saying hello
We'll never know what we've got
And that says a lot

I'm not so different from those other guys
I put my pants on one leg at a time
Maybe I don't dress as neat
Maybe I have smaller feet
But it's not true what they say
So give me the time of day
I've been told I am pretty sweet

Hey what's your name girl
I got something to say girl
If you leave without saying hello
We'll never know what we've got
And that says a lot

I hear you like cruisin' in cars around town
Well I got a big black bus that sometimes breaks down
So this guy wants to take you out
Muscles he has 'em no doubt
Some of the biggest I've seen,
so what if he's a Marine
When I was young I was a Boy Scout

Hey what's your name girl
I got something to say girl
If you leave without saying hello
We'll never know what we've got
And that says a lot

I guess it looks like I'm SOL again
Can't even fathom how many times it's been
I'm doin' the best that I can
There's some things I can't understand
I'm gonna make money someday
And oh by the way
Did I mention that I'm in a band
Take That!

Hey what's your name girl
I got something to say girl
If you leave without saying hello
We'll never know what we've got
And that says a lot.... Maybe she forgot
