Story Behind The Song
This story was inspired by my grandparents and their love for each other that lasted 65 years. My grandpa passed away around Christmas time years ago, and my grandma has not been the same since.
Song Description
This song tells the story of a love between two people that spans 65 years. It starts with them being so happy together that all they don't need gifts, just to be able to spend their first Christmas together is enough. Jump ahead 12 years, they now have children. The dad comes home from WWII at Christmas time and he is so excited to see his son. His son's only Christmas wish is to spend it with his dad who he missed so much. Jump ahead 52 years. The couple is still together. They've lived a long life of love, but the man is now very ill and won't be around much longer. The wife is distraught, but all the husband wants to do is spend his last Christmas with the love of his life.
