Story Behind The Song
I've always fallen head over heels when it comes to love, and never fear the consequences (foolish though that seems), but I have witnessed it in others. Like many of my other songs there is a bitter/sweet feeling in the lyrics. I've tried to maintain a sense of playfullness to the song as well as keeping the poignant message of fearful feelings and mistrust alive.

Lyrics
If You Should Let Me Down
I kind of like it when you look at me this way
But it feels a little dangerous
For you and I could never make things work
Can't you see there would be no way for us.
'Cause what we have in common wouldn't be enough,
So there's just no point in chasing it.
I'm not prepared to be let down again by love
I haven't the courage for facing it.
Chorus
Where would I be if you should ever let me down.
I can't run the risk of being hurt by anyone.
I need some time to weigh things up before I commit.
I'd run a mile before I'd say can this be it.
There are times I know I'd open my arms
And welcome your eager suggestion,
But the hurt I still feel when I think of the past
Makes it utterly out of the question.
I'm still picking at wounds I can't forget
I'm stuck in my own evolution.
Not ready to give in to you yet
Though that might be the only solution.
Chorus
