Story Behind The Song
2006 , 3:08 min. I had interviewed many of Lousiana natives ,while on assignment in New Orleans after Katrina and Rita had hit.
Taken from my notes,it's plain to see it's the Cajun families ,whom have suffered most. They have lost a tradition and a way of life, on which they depend.

Lyrics
WATER COME DOWN
Oh Lord, thy water come down
All over New Orleans town
Oh Lord, thy water come down on me
Rain, hail, the wind did came
The leveeÂ?s broke and it ainÂ?t been the same
Oh Lord, thy water come down on me
A Lousiana man ainÂ?t got no shame
When heÂ?s lost it all to the flood that came
Oh Lord, thy water come down on me
Chorus
Oh Lord thy water come down
Some folk swim while other folk drown
Oh Lord thy water come down on me
A Cajun work for a place to lay
His tired head at the end of the day
Oh Lord thy water come down on me
Water washed thy bed away
Things in thy kitchen didnÂ?t wanna stay
Oh Lord, thy water come down on me
Water spun thy house around
Last that I seen of my Blue Tick hound
Oh Lord, thy water come down on me
Chorus
Rain, hail the wind did howell People prayed for many an hour
Oh Lord, thy water come down on me
When it was over, we washed to shore
I say thank you Lord couldnÂ?t take much more
Oh Lord, thy water come down on me
Thy levees broke from deep within
Same folk are fixing em back agan
Oh Lord, thy water come down on me
Chorus
