Story Behind The Song

Meeting my daughter for the first time when she was 12 and becoming part of her life as she turned 15 , I pressed her to go and paid for her college. Now married with 3 beautiful children she says we never "bonded" and I mean nothing to her. The right thing (I talk about in the song)was I didn't allow her mother with two kids to slip into poverty instead supported best I could and even put both girls through college.( this inspite of a broken ankle that wouldn't heal as long as I stayed on it) I would rather be hated than to mean nothing..
