Story Behind The Song
We had been listening to some Irish bands earlier in the evening. When we got home, this song was there to greet me, asking to be written. This story of a father?s advise to his kids seems quintessentially Irish in demeanor. My singing, however, is not.

Lyrics
He thought we should find some answers for ourselves
No daddy wasn?t one to use a lot of extra words
But his life showed a path that he knew we could follow
So I remembered things he said as I went into the world
CHORUS
May you live your life so there?s standing room only
On the day they lay you into the ground
And to be a friend to those that you care for
Remember you have to be around
He knew that a good tune could touch you like nothing else
An arrow that comes at you straight to the heart
Said that God connects things in some mysterious way
So all life on earth gets to play its part
CHORUS
Mama used to get so mad, cause he wouldn?t sweat the small stuff
If we missed the bus to school, or the dishes weren?t done
But he knew success in living lay in watching all the details
Tried to keep it all in balance, and still have some fun
CHORUS
He told us no one ever said, ?I shoulda spent more time at work
Laying on their deathbed, with family gathered near
And when the time arrived for him to be moving on
Left us with a smile, and not a hint of fear
CHORUS
And he lived his life so there?s standing room only
On the day we laid him into the ground
And he was a friend to those that he cared for
Yes daddy always was around
