Story Behind The Song

One winter night the rest of the band couldn't make rehearsal, but Dennis and I (John) decided to get together and try for a cowrite. I had had an idea for a song starting with the phrase, "the Lord doesn't call the equipped, He equips the called". The response would be "Call Me" This was based on a real life call I received that led to me founding and becoming Executive Director of a nonprofit called These Streets Are Holy. we bring God's word to at-risk communities in Chicago via music, mentoring and urban gardening. Dennis quickly came up with a melody and we were off and running. The recording stacks a lot of vocals to get the choral response feel. In the first month of release it's been landing very well on Pandora and Spotify. In addition, it has been accepted for 1st round GRAMMY voting in the Best Gospel Song category for the 67th GRAMMYs.
